Okay, this story got stalled, in a way. I had a lot of ideas, I poured them all in a pile, and I never did try to write the whole story. I sure did have fun playing with hypothetical Gravity Powers, though.
Agent Alex Newton was sort of a quickie character in CoH, built to join a concept SG, which I think was called 'The Agency', and everyone in the SG wore a white dress suit. Members also all had names that started with 'Agent'. We did have fun and seeing us all together under Atlas made a lot of people stop and stare at the dozen people in identical white suits.
Rewriting Alex for a different game called up a whole raft of different ideas, different origins, and unusual powers.
Name: Alex Newton or possibly 'Singularity', or possibly 'Agent...'

Identity: Alexander Drake Newton
Archetype: originally Gravity/Radiation Controller, now Operator, but I'm not sure which spec.
Primary: 'Gravity' Control
Secondary: 'Radiation' Support
Tertiary Something 'blasty' for his signature 'Gravity Bullets'.
Movement: Flight, 'Wormhole' Teleportation
History
Descended from Isaac Newton
Family very poor, backwoods
Young Rifleman - 'One Shot, One Dinner'
"Smartest kid in the County"
Empty environment gives High IQ no traction
Brother got a girl in trouble and the family needed cash, so he enlisted.
"I swear, John, Alex musta gotten ALL of your brains!"
Marine - Rifleman - Sergeant - 3-Gun Champ
Lots of medals that he feels ambivalent about.
Survivor's Guilt - PTSD - Therapy
"Really damned smart"
GI-Bill to Cal Poly SLO
Brilliant Student/Scientist
Fascinated by Gravity
PhD at Trinity/Cambridge UK
After getting a BS in the Corps and a MS from Cal Poly, Alex got the chance to take his PhD at Cambridge.
On the 5500 mile flight from Los Angeles to London, the plane suffered a mishap, losing both engines over Iceland. There was a terrible, "We're all going to Die!" moment and Alex had his Breakthrough.
In that instant, he 'needed' to seize control of Gravity and keep the plane flying. He transformed into a pale blue-glowing being of pure gravitic energy. Immediately, he could see, all around, beyond the plane, to the forces of gravity below. He reached out, surrounded the plane with his will, and lifted, reducing its weight, and held it... for a long, straining hour.
Strangely buoyant, the plane now handled more like a glider, and the heroic pilots fought her through to the destination and landed safely.
Alex took the Train to Cambridge.
Appearance
As a young man, Alex was tall and painfully skinny. In Army Boot Camp, he had a growth spurt and filled out well.
Now, six feet tall and extremely fit, he is good looking, though not really handsome, with platinum blonde hair and blue eyes. He enjoys exercise and is known to be willing to try nearly any sport or activity, once.
A bit of a social chameleon, he is usually disarmingly cool and relaxed, suave and experienced, but he can be incredibly dynamic and tightly focused when he's working. This behavior is a mask to protect the innocent from his checkered past. When speaking, he has a faint English accent, California languid, but when he's Angry, the old redneck drawl creeps out. In emergencies the clipped, data-dense patterns of military speech dominate.
Alex enjoys the structure of serving, a government, an agency, an institution, but he is careful and only really commits to leaders he trusts, personally. He has been the faceless cog in the machine and found he didn't like it.
He wears whatever uniform seems appropriate to the situation, often in blue and white and gold. His crest is a gold badge/shield with the Alchemical/Zodiac symbol for Earth, a crossed circle, in blue.
What do you think, does it work?

Good background. I like it.
I hope to meet you in game.
Thanks, I can 'feel' a great story in that outline, I just don't know how to write it.
Be Well!
Fireheart
This story became divorced from 'location'. It's practically generic. I had meant his origin to be classic American 'redneck', but thoroughly polished into 'Brit Spy', so that, returned to the States, he might be an interesting Agent.
Now, he'll be in Titan City and may not belong to any particular agency, combining mystical power with scientific training. What would You do with this story? How would he fit into the local lore? He's the white-suited super-agent defending (Something... the City?) from the black-suited foe.
