Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Stop e-mailing me!

This website keeps spamming my inbox whenever someone posts in one of various threads, even though I unchecked everything that sends me e-mail in my account. It's very annoying and I don't want to have to mark this sites e-mail as spam.

I've found the only thing

I've found the only thing that seems to stop those emails is to choose the option to stop receiving the emails IN the emails themselves. Like you I've also checked off the option to stop the emails in my profile here on the website but that by itself doesn't seem to do anything. Next time you get one of those emails open it up and it should have a link at the bottom you can press to "stop receiving any more alerts for that thread". Unfortunately it only seems to work PER THREAD so basically you'll have to keep opening the emails that come from each individual thread to kill them all. Good luck.

Huh! I wonder if I can adjust that for you in my end.
But you are only getting emails for the threads you subscribed to. It defaults to "Notify me when new comments are posted" and "All comments" when you post. Just make sure you uncheck that when you post. I leave it checked because I need to monitor board activity but I can see why it get annoying. I have my email program route all the thread posts to their own folder. GMail has this feature too. Yahoo has it as well. Not so sure about the other services.

You're talking about the check-box settings in our profiles right? I'm saying you can "unset" those options and still get emails from new threads. Like I said the only way I've been able to "disable" getting those alert emails from a given thread is to use the option provided in one of those emails. Not entirely sure that's really working "as intended".

That would be appreciated.

That would be appreciated. As Lin Chiao Feng might recall my work has me onboard ships for weeks at a time where my personal email (via commercial internet) is not available 24/7 and I've often seen my email in-box completely full with hundreds of those alert emails when I finally get the chance to check it again. Anything to "globally disable" them would be helpful to say the least.

From the Profile:

From the Profile:
"Receive content follow-up notification e-mails:
Check this box to receive an e-mail notification for follow-ups on your content. You can not disable notifications for individual threads."
This box is not checked on my profile.
From this page, right above the "Save" and "Preview" buttons:
"Notify me when new comments are posted"
This button is always checked unless I've just unchecked it. And I think that's the problem: every time someone posts without unchecking the box, every response after that generates an email.

"Notify me when new comments are posted"
This button is always checked unless I've just unchecked it. And I think that's the problem: every time someone posts without unchecking the box, every response after that generates an email.

On my account, that checkbox is never checked unless I check it. So it seems that for some users it defaults to checked and others it doesn't.

To clarify, "Receive content follow-up notification e-mails" means you get emails when someone comments on any thread you started. It doesn't control comment notifications.

Below that in your settings page there should be "Receive comment follow-up notification e-mails" followed by a popup menu. That's the one that should matter. And I can verify that it is set to "No notifications" for Beef.

But the blurb under it annoys me:

Quote:

Check this box

what box, it's a popup menu

Quote:

to receive e-mail notification for follow-up comments to comments you posted.

Oh, cool, I can control follow-ups!

Quote:

You can later disable this on a post-by-post basis... so if you leave this to YES, you can still disable follow-up notifications for comments you don't want follow-up mails anymore - i.e. for very popular posts.

... OK, I see what you did there. That popup menu just sets the checkbox for new comments you make, i.e. it sets the default state of the "Notify me when new comments are posted" checkbox for new comments you post... and does squat all for any comments you posted before.

Which means, as Lothic pointed out, the only thing you can do is click on the link in each and every email and turn that noise off.

Lovely.

The management regrets the inconvenience and is continuing to search for a relevant bulk-shut-up command. The last thing I want is to be sending emails people don't want; that increases the odds that email services will consider us to be spammers, and that means new people won't get their "click this link to verify your account" emails and other nasty things.

Ummm I didn't read the e-mails, I just saw I had pages of mail from this site and there titles said they where notifications that someone posted in the chargen thread. I deleted them all and haven't gotten anymore yet.

OK, I think I've got it. There were 5 places left that would send you comments, and they should be silenced now.

Make sure you leave your "Receive comment follow-up notification e-mails" setting on "No notifications".

Now I'm off to write up a HOWTO and check it into the site docs.

Anyone else with this problem, PM me and I'll clear all comment reply emails for you first chance I get.

Wow I honestly thought the settings were straightforward when I finally took the time to look at them... I was getting the email notifications too. Kept having to uncheck the box every time I posted until I found the setting to change the default.

Perhaps it should default to not sending notifications unless the user opts in.

Hope it isn’t a problem for others too. Hate to see people get frustrated over such an issue...

From my phone browser:
Select my name (brings up profile)
Select edit (brings up various settings, avatar image etc)
Then there is a section about 2/3 or so down that page as follows:

Main menu

Receive content follow-up notification e-mails
Check this box to receive an e-mail notification for follow-ups on your content. You can not disable notifications for individual threads.
Receive comment follow-up notification e-mails

This setting changed the default for me immediately.

I stumbled onto the "opt out of the emails via selecting the cancelation option provided IN the emails" method some time ago and that's been a "workable workaround" for me thus far. After that I semi-forgot about it myself; I just assumed Lin Chiao Feng would fix it one way or another eventually so it didn't really occur to me to mention it here in the forums. I'll take my bit of blame for not making more of public fuss about it (like this thread did) in order to make sure it got the visibility it needed to get accounted for.
