He is now part of a new moba called MXM. I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand it is great to see him in a game again, on the other it is still NCSoft and while I don't hate them, I'm not sure how engaged I want to get with this game. If it is free to play and Statesman is immediately unlockable, I would give it a try. If it takes money or a ton of time playing a type of game I don't really care for then I'll most likely skip it.
Love the new mix of the Atlas Park theme. /shudders and cries

Well ... so much for NCSoft ever selling off the City of Heroes IP ...

Ah, MxM. I heard about that game when they added in Rytlock Brimstone from Guild Wars 2. It looks like a kind of neat game, but this is kind of... bleh. Since, as was said, it likely means we'll never see CoH get released to someone in the west. Not that that was a large hope in the first place, but it still hurts to see it get snuffed.
An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".
I think NCsoft is more interested in what they've decided within their corporate strategy that players want than they are in opening their eyes to what players actually want.
And so they are going to try to shove the assumption that their strategy is based upon down people's throats as best they can.
FIGHT EVIL! (or go cause trouble so the Heroes have something to do.)
Wow.
I am reminded of the adage, "there's no such thing as bad publicity." I took a look at the MXM forums under that video and it is full of people lamenting CoH and wishing it came back. It can only be good for CoT.
I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.
Yeah - that's what I thought as well.
Total Bull Malarkey! How dare MXM troll City of Heroes like that!

I hope that it's a popular character. And that they decide to bring in more of the COH pantheon. It could create interest in a true COH2. But States is a bland character at best and a cheap knockoff at worst, so I don't see that happening. I'm torn I want COH to be popular but at the same time I feel like this is going to end up pulling the game through the mud. It doesn't help that Jack Emmert sullied the character already. I may be alone in this belief, but Jack was awful and that rubbed off on States.
There are plenty of other characters that could be much better advertisements for the COH universe. War Witch, Ghost Widow, Scirocco, frankly most of the top tier villains were far more interesting than their hero counterparts. These characters with their unique and diverse powers would be far more interesting in the MXM setting. Perhaps States is just the vanguard of the COX pantheon that will show up in MXM. If so I might consider checking it out.

States got offed in CoH anyway. And we didn't really miss him.
So what is this game anyway, NCSoft ripping off Super Robot Wars?
Has anyone seen my mind? It was right here...
Seems like an "all-stars" game, in the vein of Heroes of the Storm, Super Smash Bros, or Final Fantasy Dissidia. Past that it's just a relatively mid-grade MOBA with a PvE mode.

I mean, this just confirms that NCsoft simply does not understand what CoH was.
NCsoft seems incapable of understanding what made CoH special. And, as is said, "if you don't get it, you never will".
Yeah, Statesman was iconic in CoH, and the lore was exceptional.
But what really created the ridiculous loyalty that we have for CoH wasn't the IP, it was that the game let us truly CREATE our own heroes and stories in a world that truly allowed for it.
If ANYONE at NCsoft EVER reads this, please understand that CoH was about FREEDOM to be a Superhero or Supervillain within a world in the Superhero genre.
Not every gamer is a sheep who wants to be told what they're supposed to be or do.

Agree and I can compare this to another game, Marvel Heroes, while enjoyable it just does not have the depth or freedom of gameplay that CoH did. I log into MH less and less because I've already played everything and the BUE did not change this or bring any variety that CoH could with its Issue releases. I see this MOBA with Statesman as no different. Being so limited in gameplay would only remind me how much Paragon Studios got right and the need for a true replacement. It is great to SEE him again in something new but that is about as far as it gets.

NCSoft never again. It does not matter what game they make, buy, or sell.
I stopped logging into MH pretty much after BUE and they nerfed the poop out of Juggernaut's damage. He was who I mained in MH and I'm just tired of their poor execution of game updates and telling the playerbase what they're getting instead of listening to them.
