I always wonder how this power set would play out. Would it be a "bullet time" type power set, or something along the lines of an Aoe specialist. Maybe even a mez stacker. I can see it dodging ranged attacks like an "agent" or running around attacking everything like the monk ability in the diablo game. When standing still he always seem to be in a "shake state". Never played dcuo or CO but I'm sure we can come up with something that's not the Flash. But a speedster in its own right.
We're not here because we're free. We're here because we're not free.
Well, speedster wise, I think (not 100%) that it's the DC verse Speed Force users who run up walls. I don't think Marvel's speedsters can do it.
AOE I think would depend on how they do the animation for the attack. Like maybe click this button and the avatar speeds around to each target in the AOE and hits them all with a punch and then winds up in the center of where that AOE patch was laid down...or maybe back at their starting position?
That would be speedster style AOE. Maybe stand in one spot and a bunch of punch (maybe kicks) to those around them?
While I hope for a better animation than Shadow Maul/Flurry/100 Fists (CO version) a barrage of punches like that would be very speedster like.
I figured it would be a "turn invisible" ,mixed with a laser light show of "dashing around" an area.
I think I made up a powerset for a speedster back in my COX days that involved rediculously low cooldowns and multiple hits for each attack... and rediculously fast animations.... and relatively low damage....
basically, make the player speed up the usual cycling, and have that transfer into the animations on screen.

I'd like to see Super Speed as a Secondary Powerset that can be applied to any character. That way you can simulate the Flash or any other melee-centric character as well as the 'bullet-time' guys from the movies.
Why can't a guy with lightning powers have Super Speed after all?
I remember when Star Wars was cool...a long, long time ago...
Marvel never had much in the way of speedsters. Only ones I can think of are Quicksilver and the Wizzer. I think some of them could run along walls but not any of the silliness that the speed force makes possible. Personality I think the only reason DC came up with it was because the Flash would have become obsolete without it. After all if its just about moving why can't superman use the speed force when it has been shown that he can keep up with the flash as long as he isn't running so fast that he travels through time. I was just looking at the list of powers granted by the speed force and it almost feels like they are trying to give the flash the powers of all the JLA. Lets see with the power of the speed force the flash can: Punch "with the force of a white dwarf star", Drain the kinetic energy from anything making him bulletproof and able to turn bad-guys into living statues, Heal himself and others by accelerating there healing so that they regenerate like wolverine, Create matter/constructs, ESP, and half a dozen other things that render the flash as well as a good portion of the league pointless... Im going to cut myself short here before I get too much farther into this rant.
Having super speed would be a interesting secondary power set or even a sub type of some of the combat skills. Looking at what most speeders can do there combat work in 3 types. They can deliver a single extra strong punch by building up speed and the charging them. They can deliver a flurry of weaker but rapid punches, and they can take on a AoE stile combat where they uses their speed to attack multiple targets in a small area in rapid succession or by manipulating the environment by doing things like running in a circle to create a vortex.
In a rather recent (before new52) comic, they showed Flash didn't need to travel through time to go faster than Superman. Flash is faster than Superman period, Flash just put on shows for their charity event races.
However, good idea with power pool way of doing it.

More than you thought.
The list is more than likely incomplete as well...
I knew there were more Im just talking about speedsters I could think of off the top of my head. DC has done more predominant speedsters and used them regularly. Of the top of my head I can think of the 3 Flashes, Reverse Flash, Impulse, Mas and Menos all come to mind.
more and more, i'm liking the idea of better utalizing power pools in the new game....
PARTICULARLY if the devs divest transport powers from the normal powers lists (more like the champs system, where it's got it's own power point)
i would love to see the powerpools become a deeper and more relevant system and used to thematically evolve your primary and secondary sets (your character as a whole) in different ways....

To do that, one would need more Power-slots and Enhancement-slots.
Be Well!
Fireheart
naw.. you just need to get "transport" slots over time that, like the point to buy it, would be independent of normal growth
the "extras" that came along with transport sets (like hasten or acrobatics could easily be absorbed into, or be the foundation of, other power pools)
