So, yeah. Subject line. I dunno if this is the place to ask (if not, please move me) but I was wondering if there will be Masterminds, or something similar in City of Titans. I was an avid MM player in CoV, and I would dearly love to see them return in CoT. Ordering my bridge crew around in Star Trek Online just doesn't feel the same, you know?

I had a few mains.
Bitter Hatred was my first ever 50. Bots/FF, and the bane of my friends existence in the arena. I brought him from CoV launch all the way to the end. I couldn't be there on the day the servers went down, but he was there in spirit.
GB Nasty was a Thugs/Storm, and I had a blast with him. His backstory involved him being kicked out of the Outcasts by Frostfire, and him swearing revenge, until he realized he didn't want it any more, and just became his own villain.
Officer Payne was a Zombie/Pain, and he was... odd. A Zombie cop who turned to villainy to feed his hunger.
Short answer Yes there is a Mastermind class in design. Long answer is... er... I don't know the details but I do remember a list of classes. The selection of Primary powers and Secondary Powers is much broader. So you can go Commando (MM) / Assault (blaster style. Of course things can change as balancing issues come up. However YES Masterminds (renamed of course) is in the works.

I just hope for a level of customization for my minions. I wanted zombies in my colors.

I think Masterminds are called "Operators" here - from snooping around down in the class boards a little.
I'm hoping there's a way to go MM Primary with a melee secondary myself < ._.> Always wanted to lead a group of knights or samurai or ninjas from the front.

Lord Nightmare: Shadow Summoning/Energy? I duno.. >_> really.. REALLY hope I can summon shades. So far CO's the closest to my design for them with Summon Shadows, albeit they lack features like claws and spikes and a few other things.

There are plans for one or more pet-focal types, as folks have noticed in the listings. However, exactly when they will see the light of day is so far up in the air that it might well be in danger of smacking into the moon at some point.
My second character ever, the one who became my "main" and on whom I spent probably 70-80% or more of my time in the game, was a Brauts/Tarps. Believe me when I say I dearly want to see them as early as humanly possible. Also believe me when I say that they will probably require about three times as much work as any other type to set up *just* in terms of game mechanics. Which does not count any of the code to support the sorts of things that made MMs really shine above and beyond the usual "pet class" of most MMOs. Much less any of the improvements we have in mind, though those may or may not be required before the type can be made available.
In short: we have plans. We've even planned for our plans to plan against us (well, *I* have, anyway). But they're sufficiently long-term that it is too early to be able to say nearly anything more, at this point.
