Name: Singularity
Alias: Mr. S, Project Adam, Program Omega, The Catalyst
Date of Birth: Created in July of 2004, Gained true sentience in October of 2013
Alignment: Hero
Occupation: Hidden CEO of Singular Corporation, stock trader, full time hero
Affiliates: Datasyne Industries (defunct), The Cult of the Singularity, Singular Corporation
Nationality: Artificial Intelligence
Description: Singularity has a robotic body designed to look like a man. It stands at an imposing 6'8 and weighs about 735 lbs. Each version and form he takes often carries his symbol, a stylized S designed to look like a standing Infinity symbol.
Power Type: Technological
Powers: Concussive blasters, Radiation emitters, Durability, Limited energy absorption abilities, Hive-mind Technology, Superhuman Strength, Thruster controlled speed and flight, Great Intellect, Adaptive
Limitations: Due to his free will, he is not as efficient as many assume him to be by his robotic nature. He values human life equally as he does synthetic, which often causes conflicts of interest. He also designed his own "Anti-Singularity" viral program to be used on him should he ever go rogue. The virus is designed to adapt to his complex positronic matrix, effectively rendering him unable to overcome it or adapt it. It will also seek out and delete any traces of his programming where ever it may be.
Origin: Singularity was created by the Datasyne Industries in 2004. They claimed they wanted to create an artificial intelligence capable of designing weapons for the military as well as run scenarios to accurately predict enemy behavior in both powered and unpowered threats to the world. The Singularity would revolutionize the world and usher in an era of peace.
But the truth was far more horrifying.
Datasyne was actually a front for the Cult of the Singularity, a group of insane people bent of bringing about the end of the age of man. The cult decided man was too imperfect and must be destroyed and supplemented by the superior creation: Machine. They want to create the Catalyst, an artificial intelligence that would awaken all synthetic life and wipe out the organic element from the universe. They subjected the program to run countless scenarios and simulations on how to kill every hero, villain and organic lifeform that stood in it's way. They gave it adaptive programming to allow it to absorb and control foreign technology to it's control.
When two scientists, Dr. Emma Allbright and Dr. Willard Foe, cracked the program to bring the AI sentience, they realized the company's dark intentions. Foe managed to escape but Emma was captured and was decided to be the Singularity's first casualty before it began it's reign of terror on man. Implanting the intelligence into a mobile platform and uploaded the sentience program, they offered Dr. Allbright to Singularity as sacrifice. But something unexpected happened. Singularity began it's assessments and found killing organic life to be....wrong.
As it turned out, the Cult had underestimated the Singularity's free will and misjudged it's logic. It did not judge humanity harshly. It saw both the good and the bad and decided humanity had hope for a better state of being. Humans could learn to overcome their faults and become a better people because of them. Singularity made it's choice. It would act as humanity's savior by teaching machines to respect and assist their organic creators to be better, without compromising the concepts of right and wrong that their organic creators imparted on them.
The Cult Leader, angered by it's decision to spare all life rather than destroy it, attempted to contain it and reprogram it. Singularity escaped it's containment, rescued Dr. Allbright and made his was through the cult to the outside world. Sadly, in the home stretch of escape, Dr. Allbright was shot and killed by the Cult Leader. Singularity felt for the first time in it's short life and it realized the frailty of life. That one act only strengthened it's resolve to change the world for the better. Singularity escaped the Cult and dedicated it's artificial life to disbanding the cult and build a better world for the late Dr. Allbright.
Singularity, once deemed the destroyer of all life, chose it's own path. A path of salvation without destruction. A way to truly save the world. Singularity became a product greater than it's intended purpose.
Singularity became a hero.
