Shieldman Theme/Concept Idea.

Hey! I have been thinking a lot on a concept based on a hero carrying a shield only, supposely is a Captain America esque hero but I have no clue which theme or concept I should go with. Got any ideas?

Yep, bunch of ideas, but I'm also making a teen hero based around protection and a shield, so I have to keep most of those ideas to myself :3

I've been toying with the idea myself. I may wait for the Ranger with Protection as a secondary to come out.
I loved the image of Captain America with a pistol. His Helmet/Mask is too awesome to pass by.
I was thinking a Heavy Ranger primary and hide the power with a Pistol's aesthetic. I wouldn't be star spangled but would keep the military motif.

as to the OP, a super soldier is a standard comic meme. if you're going to be throwing punches, super strength is the way. Super Jump is a good movement power , with Running bought later. A tertiary ranged/pistol power might complete the super solider image.

The name would vary depending on a Patriot theme or a generic soldier theme.
I would start with a rank and play with the name later. Captain, Major, Commander, Sergeant...

As for me, the Gladiator is the most interesting build. I don't see a super soldier as a tank. He is offense first and defense second.

edit to add. Super soldiers would make for an interesting team...

you could also do a knight

you could also do a knight theme, maybe even make him a sort of magical batman type character with a magic shield and knight armour. Someone who combines captain America style shield swinging with Batman style hand to hand combat.

Someone mentioned the knight

Someone mentioned the knight motif, which is an awesome idea. You say Captain America-esque, does that mean you'd like an American patriot hero? Because if you go with a a theme that is just the right amount of tights and knight armor, you could have your very own European superhero - British, French, German, etc.

You still have a lot of wiggle room for a U.S. theme. You have the iconic American shield symbol which is actually what Cap's WWII shield is based on. The game is obviously going to limit your creativity, but you have a lot of American Seals to work with, like the FBI, CIA, etc. You can also have the shield be a giant star shape.

I was going to propose a police officer theme, think SWAT shields, but look at CoH's Blue Steel for that. You could even keep the Batman-style combat and include a whole bunch high-tech gadgets (Google The Defuser from Who Wants To Be a Superhero? ).

Another idea is to make the shield a hard-light hologram or some form of energy. I don't think that is exactly what you have in mind, but I'm just throwing ideas out there.

You could go with the police

You could go with the police officer origin and have him some cybernetic implantment inside like cyber muscles or cyber skeleton but has his flesh and organs and calling himself Guardsman.

An interesting option I have

An interesting option I have seen mentioned is a ranged tertiary power using a shield as a prop, Never got the Devs to say a thing about it but it may be an option for you.

You could also have it be a power where he can make shields made of energy at will.
