Well on one hand it's a well made trailer, on the other hand I don't trust the DCEU right now. They have a habit of putting the right people in the wrong place.

If it’s 1/4 as good as the Wonder Woman film I’ll be happy. That was one of my favorite superhero films ever.
I dunno. I think the content in the trailer is pretty good, there are some legs there, but I don't know about the actor and costume. It feels like there is too much padding there. But then the character is a little campy so it might end up working if they are self aware. If not...ugh...

To be honest I've never read a Captain Marvel comic book but I'm old enough to remember the 1970s era Shazam! Saturday morning show and I thought it was super-cheesy even when I was a kid. Here's the intro to that to give you a taste:

So basically I've always had a sort of "ehh" or "eww" reaction to Captain Marvel ever since.
But to be fair I actually sort of liked the trailer for the new movie. It sort of reminds me a bit of "Kick-Ass" and/or "Scott Pilgrim Saves the World" but with a guy who gets -actual- superpowers. I'm still not hyper-excited to see this but I'll probably give it a try eventually, even if it's like a movie I catch on one of my long flights to Tokyo. ;)

My first superhero comics was my dad's copy of the 40s to 70s anthology of Captain Marvel comics. I didn't realise the modern superhero hangs on to Billy Batson's personality when he upgrades (despite having the wisdom of Solomon and more) until I saw this trailer. Jarring for me but no fault of the movie since that apparently has been the case since the late 80s. It looks like it'll still be good inflight entertainment but I should go back and reread that anthology too.

Looks really silly. Kinda fun but really silly.
But like all DC movies I'll wait till I see some reviews.

This looks like it could be a FUN movie (not a GOOD one), which is something the DCEU has been missing so far.
My main issue is that, while I find the concept of Shazam interesting (his portrayal in Kingdom Come was fantastic), I don't know enough about him to get excited. Like, who do you think of when I say "Shazam villain"??

Black Adam, first of all. But then I never read any of the earlier Captain Marvel stories (that is, before circa 2004 CE), so they aren't as well established in my memory as Black Adam, or any of the Batman's or the Flash's rogues galleries.

I think his earliest Archnemesis was a short mad scientist with a bald head and a giant beard, but he's had so much villain decay over the years that I don't think he counts anymore and is meant more as a pre-rape Doctor Light, one that's more a sympathetic ineffectual villain who's a relatable jerk like wario more than someone to be afraid of. Someone like Lord Boxman from O.K K.O. Last I saw him he was a tutorial for item crafting for tech based villains in DCUO. Can't recall his name though...

Well... that's a weird way to present him then... you mean the guy that Shazam punches and doesn't affect? That's just weird... Doctor Sivana should be flying around shooting people with a laser pistol while cackling like a Jackass. He's not physically strong enough to take on Shazam, he should be using his mad science... like wow.... I mean I thought that was Black Adam, like that makes sense for Black Adam, but Doctor Sivanna?
