To add my own points, I always go with the rule, "don't dictate their characters' reaction without permission." This extends to planned plots and such, like with RottenLuck's Museum Heist thread. When I realized TeeKay would go crazy and pull something on even the other villains, I sent Rotten a message with the plan to get permission to potentially derail the plot first. Things didn't even go as I had planned which is expected with any good RP :)
Also, something I've seen in this RP forum I haven't seen often elsewhere are the cross-threading aspects. I saw some of it in CoH RP, with Whitmoore and Paragon U, but not to the extent I see it here. With the Whitehold thread, there are events taking place in a time-specific break for the events of the museum heist thread to play out for a bit.
Typically, there's an OOC thread attached to every RP thread to hold all group questions about what's going on, clarification, planning, plotting, etc. that needs that "meta" discussion characters can't have because they know less than the writers. These are valuable to know what might be happening and where to ask questions before jumping in if one so chooses.

Sup Steel. I'm Xselcier, but you can just call me X. I started the first RP thread here and these are the rules I set down for that story (with some edits :-D ).
1. No killing/maiming/disabling other people's characters without explicit permission.
2. Do not dominate the story or try to force other player's to do things they don't wish to.
3. OOC (Out of Character) posts should be kept out of the RP thread to best allow for immersion and story flow.
4. Everything Foradain said two posts ago.
5. Other than that, have fun and don't be a d-bag.

Anyone is welcomed to rp. People here are usually bery easy going as long as you follow the rules. the museum heist is actually part of something Myself Rotten, and Glad have planned to hopefully get everyone involved. If you guys are paying attention to the Museum Heist thread you may have already gotten a glimpse of what we are planning and building up to.

The Museum Heist is a prime example it didn't just go off track it went down the highway and across town! Personally, I like the Titan City Corsairs, and then the mascot would just be The Captain. The cheerleaders would stay the Wenchettes/Wenches and the fans would be The Crew.

To be honest the Motorheads sound more like villainous mechanics (not a bad idea for that I might add)
I'd go more for a name that symbolizes there mechanical-insect nature....An acronym like D.R.O.N.E.S, ,the S.W.A.R.M or the H.I.V.E maybe? It could stand for something like "Destructive Robotic Organisms Needing to Eat to Survive" or something along those lines.

I'm only just discovering the RP threads on the City of Titans Forum, and have been intrigued as I caught up with the Lore listed here. First, a big Thank You to Steamtank for all the work you've put into this. It's hugely appreciated.
Someone asked about rules for RP, and it made me think of the fantastic "Idiot's Guide to RP" thread in the CoH forums, which covered so many of the basics for those unfamiliar with text-based RP. That was certainly a wealth of knowledge, tips and advice on how to get the most out of RP in an MMO.
Wonder if we can find that old CoH Thread. I thought someone archived the forums not sure.

Ive also been working on the connection between the IFRIT and the fires of 1908. Though im not sure what the interest in the orbital laser is all about, beyond the obvious. My best guess right now is there is some sort of buried ancient alien tech under the city, and there is a map, or something, the IFRIT found in south america, which is why they jumped on the chance to move into Titan City. Im guessing the alien tech is a power source for the death ray.
I think Shannon Warton's father took out a loan from the Black Rose group for 800mil to build the orbital death ray. Why? I dont know...yet. He defalted on the loan and the Black rose came after the district. The Black rose went after the families, but FAMILIES is in all caps, and im pretty sure the factory union bosses were a colaboration of different villian factions, probably led by the *FIVE* Dragons.
Im not sure what Antarctica has to do with all this either, but my guess is it has something to do with melting the polar ice caps, kind of lame especially for guys who like fire, or that it has something to do with target triangulation.
Thats all i have right now, but it looks like another slow day at work, so ill go over everything again.

And I'll point to a typo in that document on the entry for update #36. It refers to the CEO of Wharton Steel as "Mr Wharton". You got the gender wrong, the update explicitly gives her name as Shannon Wharton.
No comments about any of the other assumptions in that entry. :-)

You do have a point there. I'm the author of that update, and it was cut down a bit for length, including the start where the reporter gave their name (which was a throwaway joke) and greeted the CEO as "Ms Wharton", so gender was *supposed* to be obvious, had not realized that detail was gone. It also lost some of the mill's history (nothing dramatic), some info about a new brand of armor steel, and the name of another IFRIT member (but no powers given).

We now also have the bokor (faction name unknown, but don't appear to belong to any existing named faction). At present want to carve out a part, or all, of Ironport as their territory.

The faction should be The Barons. Bokor is a descriptor to give a specific style to the faction.

The devs have mentioned that they will be avoiding anything Greco-Roman, where deities are concerned, but that was some time ago. It's anyone's guess whether that still is, or will remain, the case.

IIRC, it was one part that it was a strong influence in CoH (Statesman as an avatar of Zeus, Well of Furies) in particular and another part that it's been done, in general.

Anyone who says they are "Tired of Lore" have a look at this article about the Wildstar Lore bible.. lots of canon that players haven't even SEEN yet and we're almost a year into the game. One of the MOST immersive and complete MMORPG releases i've seen in quite a long time (questing, crafting, missions, customization.. the whole 9). http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/12/09/carbines-chad-moore-on-wildstars-fresh-focus-on-lore/
Lore/Story really matters. They are starting to come back from the drop-off that happened at the 3 month point and thats LARGELY due to their focus on "Loremageddon" and attracting real action roleplayers back to the game to act out their own fantastic stories.

Some kind of advantage (or possibly equalizer). Definitely applies to technology. Probably applies to drugs, as well. Most likely doesn't see much use beyond the lower level thugs and riff-raff who have need of an Edge.

CAP has been named before, but no details given. This is their first time 'on camera'. I do not believe any of their named NPC's have been given.
The exact definitions of which factions are in which district is still in flux, but only a few are found only (or even mostly) in a single district (those that are, are generally tightly themed). CAP is pretty general, you'd find them in lots of places.

Incorrect. "Charleston" was renamed as "Weston." "Coventre" is a post-launch district (was also renamed, but I'm not sure that's especially relevant).
