When Rick was growing up, he was always the largest and strongest person in his class. Instead of using his stature to intimidate those who were smaller than him, he used his gifts to protect those who would be bullied. He realized that to use his strength against those who were weaker than him was not only wrong but cowardly. When he grew up it was clear that his destiny was to become a hero and use his talents in the never-ending fight against evil!

While Rick found the work of a superhero rewarding and the public adulation flattering, he would often feel lonely. He decided to check SuperMatch.com to see who was out there, and he found his soul-mate in Fire Thistle. Soon after meeting, Rick and Fire Thistle joined forces as well as hearts and were shortly married thereafter. A year later, they were joined by their first child, Wren. Since then, Fire Thistle had decided to temporarily retire to take care of and train their baby until she's old enough to join her parents, but Rick continues the fight!

While Rick was wooing Fire Thistle, another person entered into his life. While helping the Paragon Police Department with their situation in what they called “The Hollows”, Rick met another hero, Soldier-One. The two men became fast friends and would often team up to help the city of Paragon. Shortly, Soldier-One invited Rick and Fire Thistle to join his fledgling super group, F.L.A.G. As F.L.A.G. grew in rank and prestige, Rick and Fire Thistle rose in the ranks as officers, helping further bringing the criminals and ne’er-do-wells to justice.
