One hero staple that never got to COH was the mountain observatory as a villains lair. It was used so often in the old Superman cartoons, that I expected headlines in the Daily Planet: "Mountain Observatory Sold, New Crime Wave Feared!"
This is a nice quick map with a boss fight. The visuals are perfect, the central bell with a giant telescope--perfect for a super fight. and there is a core of support buildings connected to the telescope room.
Add to this a large cave where the treasure/giant robots are stored and you have a decent little adventure setting.
If you add destructible features, then it would be perfect!
and another, a 1776 recreation village. Villagers are actors in costume. Destructible makes it all the more fun...this would lend itself to a variety of missions.
The Lex Luthor suite of offices. a Rich, powerful Titan city villain uses these offices. But he/she makes enemies too. Try 4 floors of expensive computers, and fine art/all destructible...and you can really make a serious enemy just by rescuing him (gain enemy faction points by trashing his personal suite of offices).

Destructible environments in games are fun regardless of the location. Its a little tougher to do that type of game mechanic well in a tab targeting system but not impossible.
If CoT could have that mechanic I would be happy but there are so many things I would want before destructible environments.
You know the Griffith Observatory, used in Many films and shows, is a popular site because it's Nearby. Not far from the Hollywood(land) sign.
Still, an observatory might make an interesting site for adventure.

Well, if you're going to opt for the Observatory, I'm going to request the Volcano secret villain base. Of course, if you destroy too much of the environment, the volcano erupts and the lives of the people in the surrounding villages are now in grave danger and then you are faced with a choice, allow the villain to escape while you save the villages, or ignore the villages, hope for the best, and arrest the bad guy.

A volcano.
In Massachusetts.

Nothing was said about it being located in Massachusetts.... its just another instanced map players can visit like a moon base or alternate dimension.
Nearest Volcano to Massachusetts, is probably Iceland. Not all that far, as the Rocket flies.

I think you might be wrong about that.
Check the Finches' basement. Their furnace is absolutely fabulous.

Oh? Where's nearer?
I tried to get Google to tell me how far it is, but it wouldn't tell me. Greenland is closer, but Greenland is where the Ice is, instead of Iceland, no active volcanoes. Lots of volcanoes on the West coast of America, but not East.

Probably the ones in New Hampshire. They are inactive so maybe the one in Yellowstone. I haven't checked measurements But I am almost positive they are closer.
Hmm, actually, close to the same distance. Finally figured a search that produced an answer.
About 2500 miles from Boston to Iceland, about 2400, Boston to Yellowstone.
Otherwise, yes, the extinct volcano Mount Pawtuckaway, in New Hampshire.
Be Well!
Fireheart
Never heard of Pawtuckaway...is it another name for osippi?
(edited to include)
I figured I would just check it myself.
Learned (or rather was reminded) the terms are active (erupting) dormant (will erupt) and extinct (10000 years since eruption and 10000 years till eruption)
There are two in New Hampshire...One is Pawtuckaway and the other is Ossipee.
There are also some dormant ones closer off the coast of Canada.
Ah-Hah! I Knew Canada was evil! Hiding volcano-lairs like that...
Heh, or not, since some of my favorite people are from Canada.

Hey....at least we are not hiding a super volcano under a national park.... Who is the real super villain?
Then again ...we Canadians do have Kodiak bears, giant lampreys and poutine.
Alternate map locations, such as a volcano, moon base, etc., are not a priority for launch. We have tons of maps to generate as it is, and we don't need to add any additional right now. In expansions down the road? We plan to have venues outside of Titan City, in one form or another. These may or may not include a moon base, a base inside a volcano, or anything else you can imagine. We have tons of plans, but we can only churn out so many maps at a time.

Yep, read the Manga. It was great.
We are all 'living in space' right now!

Poutine is the true evil of Canada. Properly made it is a great tasting heart attack machine. Poorly made it is a barely digestible soggy mess.
The fries have got to be properly cooked, Crispy on the outside (think NY Fries) so that it won't soak up too much o the gravy, FRESH cheese curds and HOT gravy (beef is best, chicken gravy is tasteless) so that it melts the cheese all over the fries.
gotta go, drool is . . . .
Oh and one other thing. [s]Leave our Underwater Volcanoe bases alone[/s].
OH.
Wait a minute . . . .
don't read what I crossed out, our government has got to have some secrets.
But what if your volvano base does not *want* to be left alone?

If I'd had the money for the mogul start-up, I'd have demanded Mojo Jojo's Secret Hideout from PowerPuff Grls.

An observatory, on TOP of a volcano, in Central Park.
+1
Given the nature of this game, It wouldn't surprise me if someone figured out how to animate a pair of Volcanoes to cause this very thing.
Anyone planning on building a Vocanoinator? You've got 105 (?) days to do it in.
