Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.
It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.
To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.
Considering that there will only be one server, this would be problematical to implement.

I remember those fears when CoX first went free, but I neither personally experienced nor heard of this sort of thing actually happening. The worst I saw was a couple characters with very puerile names.

...and those were most likely mine, and I was VIP :)
I had one toon get his name "Generic-ed" for that reason on CoX. I deleted him because of it. Why make a kung-fu guy with a bad inuendo pun for a name when you can't even play him? After that I made several more but just left them in Outbreak forever. I only played on the Triumph server and I had like 3 slots devoted to toons with dirty names, which I never played. I just needed to know they existed, and that I had the names.

I encountered a personal experience related to this topic in the Justice Server, I honestly can't remember when it occurred (pre or post f2p) But I was running with my Supergroup (House of Tera) And we were running alternate characters in the sewers in Atlas Park. While our group was running around and beating up the baddies, we picked up a few "honorary members" Two high level characters, who would wait until we began to engage a mob (Tank leading the way of course), and then they would blanket the area with heavy AoE, finishing off the mob in literally seconds, (Level 24's and 25's) and eliminating the chance for us to gain any experience. Repeatedly we asked them to stop, and were met with mockery. (Our group even scattered and reassembled at different coordinates, and were followed.) When we threatened to log a complaint with the GM's, they responded that nothing that they did was against the User agreement and they had every right to engage any mob they wished at any time. (Their excuse was actually a lot more long winded and pompous then I am relating here.) Needless to say, we all logged off the Alts and did something else somewhere else, After logging our complaints. I'm not saying that this is likely to occur in CoT. I think what I've seen and heard through the forms and reading what I've read is a good sign about the strength of the community behind the project. But I can foresee a situation where people paying for a game are more emotionally invested then those that do not. I came in and out of DCUO, Star Wars and Star Trek, And even WoW, all free to play. The only game I ever paid to play was City of Heroes, and though I didn't notice a drop in overall experience after it went f2p (Aside from the above story) I'm merely suggesting that it is a viable concern if in the future CoT goes ftp. Though I will end by saying it's not enough of a concern to make me 'not' play. I'm playing the game regardless. :P

That kind of griefing is, in my experience, mercifully rare, but it's been around since waaay before any game was f2p. Though, I guess it's not unreasonable to assume it might happen a bit more when the griefers don't have to invest any money to be asshats.

Bear in mind that while the game is going to be free to play, you will still have to "buy the box" (which will not be a physical box) unless that has changed recently, so if your account is banned you do have something to lose even as a F2P.
I remember my first day of CoH (July 04), I'm in AP and a stone tank in granite called "Rock hard Willie" goes past. Made me wonder whether that meant the same thing in the US as it did in the UK.
I was really sore they generic'd "Debbie does Talos", and amazed when "The pocket rocket" (a very normal sporting nickname in the UK) got done, I appealed and got that one back.

No matter what multi-player game, whether its is F2P or P2P can guarantee no idiots, even on Premium Servers.
You will find some people who just like to cause problems for others no matter if they are in 'Premium/Pay Only' Servers or not, they will still be douche's.

OK, I have to admit that was clever.
Spurn all ye kindle.
I would have used "Debbie Does D'alos" or just 3D. >;)
That sums it up. If they do pay a subscription then they're liable to feel entitled to "play how they want".

The UELA should stipulate in very clear terms that the devs reserve the right to sanction players in different ways (account frozen, loss of account without refund, etc) if THE DEVS feel that the player is griefing. They should then be very clear that they're not going to define griefing so as to allow people to find loopholes in their definition, but they'll make those judgement calls when needed.
As for "dirty words" the fact is anything can be turned into a vulgarity if one is inclined to try.
On the subject of inuendos in general, I give you this:

I honestly don't remember what happened to the folks who gave us a hard time. I honestly don't even remember if the GM's in CoH even replied. But I agree, people who choose to be d*ck's will be, weather they play or not. I have just found that most in the community aren't that way. And those that are quickly fall out. And the game is all the better for it. And the User agreement should have a certain level of ambiguity too it, in order to avoid exploitation. Make the general guidelines very clear, and leave some room for those who studied Law in college. (No offense intended to any persons NOT involved in my above mentioned incident.)

LOL. Clever indeed! What I find humorous is that the vast majority of players under the age of 18 would not even get the reference. Why bother to generic it? It's certainly not intrinsically vulgar. ::sigh:: Stay strong Minotaur.

While I never got genericed, I will freely admit that my signature hero image comes as close as was possible in City of Heroes to Blackarachnia from Transformers Beast Wars (and Animated) in looks alone. I am shocked that nobody ever reported the look at least.
It probably helped that I used literary and science techniques to make a different seeming name, but...Stygian is an alternative for Black when used to describe either colors or lighting conditions, and Variolus is part of the scientific name for the northeastern black widow spider, which was her Beast Mode in seasons 1 & 2.
I can state that I do not intend to recreate the look and thus will not endanger a new IP with Hasbro Enforcement Droid Invasion.
On-topic: No, just no. Griefers will grief and premium servers won't stop that.
