Pet Char gen trailers?

Like the many char gen videos showing off player costumes. I was wondering if this was possible anytime soon.

As a child, I thought my name was handsome, cause that is what everyone called me.

I'm always going to be in

I'm always in favor of getting to see as much of CoT as possible. But I'd have to think that the "pet customization" features of CoT are basically just going to be based on some kind of subset of the player character generator. In other words the more we see of the basic character creator the more of an idea of what might be possible for pet customization as well. I doubt the final GUIs for each of these things will be radically different.

We've already been told that customizable pets in CoT are likely not going to be as completely "customizable" as player characters will be. It's going be hard enough to transmit player costume data across the network without lag issues - imagine if each player's multiple pets were all as completely unique costume-wise as the character themselves. The message traffic to express all that to every other player in the vicinity would be enormous.

Customizable pets will likely have a subset of options in CoT; perhaps color choices and a few generic hardwired costume options at best. I simply would not expect to be able to make every pet look as unique as a player character. Frankly if CoT manages to provide -any- amount of pet customization (even if it's minimal) it'll be better than the "no customization" we had in CoH.

I don't even think we're

I don't even think we're supposed to have the pet AT at launch anyway. That's probably a way down the line customization option.

We are -definitely- not going to have the Commander AT at CoT launch. Getting the whole "pet customization" system working correctly is probably at least part of the reason for that.

Having pet customization in a game like this will be great when it happens, but it's like the 96th most important thing on the top 100 list of priorities for MWM to be working on ATM.

I'd personally be okay with a wide selection of pre-built characters if it got the AT out quicker, but I understand that more customization is always good.

I think resources would be

I think resources would be better put in customization than prebuilding pets; however, I'd love some non-humanoid options (wolves, drones, etc)

We know for certain that we

We know for certain that we aren't going to have non-humanoid options for pretty much anything for a fairly long time, unfortunately. Just takes resources they don't want to/can't spend right now.

An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".

We'll have non-human NPCs -

We'll have non-human NPCs - we already know that the chief of police is some kind of wolf-man. I'm talking humanoid, which is defined as head, arms, and legs as the primary limbs.

Is there any chance that pets

Is there any chance that pets will have an option to mimic the player's appearance? This could allow a Jamie Madrox a.k.a. Multiple Man looking power set. If summoning has versatile appearance customization, it could also be "cloning".

The generic idea of being able to directly "clone" a player character (either with Commander pets or some other kind of "vanity pet") has been talked about several times over the years. I'm not sure that any Redname has ever said with certainty that we will definitely be able to do this in CoT.

But if any future pet customization system provides the capability to manually produce a "pet" that can look 100% identical to a player character then I'd say we'd have the ability to clone ourselves as a "side effect" of what that pet customization system could provide. At that point the Devs would not need to provide any direct support for cloning; players could just opt to do that on their own.
