So after the basic "how to move" tutorial stage that's about it. Then you hit end game and there are powers you still don't understand or how they work or how to use them in conjunction with other powers. Lot of times there's just a tool tip to the power or you have to open the glossary in the game and just read a vague idea of powers in general but not about the actual power you want to understand. So would be kind of neat to maybe get some kind of option to go into a tutorial stage after getting a new power. Then ya can learn not only about the power but maybe even get a refresher on the powers ya already have. So IF you decided to play the tutorial stages along the way, by the time ya get ya final power you will have learned how to use them all and also understand how they work. And in the event you get to the end and want to replay those tutorials you still can.

I think that's a great idea! Maybe have like a superhero training contact inside Titan City Hall who you can go to anytime during the game to learn about your new found powers and what their capable of?
It would mean more work for the Dev's... BUT it also means that any player(New or old) who wants to be the best they can, has an easy guide to power and character development! :)
IIRC Champions Online has some kind of Training Room where you can try out a new power and tweak the various effects. So maybe something like that with a tutorial put on top...?
But yeah, it could be a lot of writing. The thing I'm really worried about, though, is that some things you want to train involve multiple powers working together, and there's still the problem that you'll only get a tutorial on the uses the developers have thought of...
Has anyone seen my mind? It was right here...
this sounds like an evolution of Champ's training room... I love it.
it would be great to have someone explain the situations when new power X would be useful, and how it stacks up to other powers... all while in a safe place where I could try it out.

Why not take the Training Room idea to its "logical conclusion" and broaden its applicability beyond merely just whatever Power choices your Classification/Specification has available for you to take. Specifically, I'm thinking of ... what if the Training Room allowed you to "test drive" ANY (Click/Toggle/Charge/etc.) Power that isn't passive that is available in the game on a Temp Power basis (with no Enhancement Slots, obviously) in a defined space against what amounts to Target Dummies, so as to allow you to get a feel for it. These Temp Powers would only be accessible within the Training Room area (could even be an Instance) so as to prevent Players from "taking them on the road" and using them outside the Training Room.
Ever wanted to know what it's like (kinda) to play as a Blaster, and been too busy to find out? Now you can.
Basic idea is to give Players a "feel" for how a powerset might play, whether it be Classification, Specification, Pool or Mastery, without requiring a "buy before you try" like City of Heroes enforced. Note that one side effect of this setup could be that the entire Temp Power structure of the Training Room could be used for QA purposes to cross-check the baseline performances of Powers, making it a lot easier to pull information to create a City of Titanic Data repository accessible outside the game.

I had suggested a 'Danger Room' type system that would let you test-drive your next power choice before it was locked in. If we just had THAT at launch then I think Red's idea could follow along after.

A training room to just test powers would be great but I don't feel like the player is really learning or understanding what they exactly do or their full application. Hence for an actual tutorial for the powers so the player can really understand them. Cause like in CO i grabbed a power and went running up to a test dummy and used the power. But I still didnt understand how it was working. Sometimes getting a real explanation other then a little tool tip is a huge help. And I mean an actual tutorial. Not a video that pops up and talks. It's a training room. I wanna be trained to use this new power.

Ellysyn ... if you want to understand Powers in their "full" application in actual gameplay, you have to actually play them in a fully kitted out and slotted build in actual gameplay. Simulations can only take you but so far without resorting to use of Alts.

What about the "Devil may cry " type of tutorials? It showed you how the powers worked ingame in a mini screen, and how the different color orbs benefitted you. Also a brief description on baddies an tips to defeating them all in one. Plus it gave a solid description of the possibility of the power IIRC.
We're not here because we're free. We're here because we're not free.
I'm all about information on the Powers, both before and after we pick them. However an actual tutorial on EVERY power would be a huge undertaking.
I think a two-tiered system (first the explanation of the power IC and maybe an example of who it would work well against then reading the hidden actual stats) would be good. Still would like to see the training room to get an idea of how the power plays, interacts with other powers etc though. You could also take that time to tweak the colors/effects of the Powers as you buy them.

It would be a monstrous undertaking. But if it was ever possible. I would love to see it happen though.

Testing powers? Isn't that what grey-conning zone NPCs are for?

As long as it's optional..
If people won't pay enough to finance its creation, it is not worth creating.

And then AFTER you've picked it you realize it's not what you thought it was and need a respect to fix? C'mon...please tell me one of the best parts of CO (one of the few good parts really...), the ability to test Powers before the pick is etched in stone won't even be considered for CoT.
I remember when Star Wars was cool...a long, long time ago...
I can see it not being useful fairly quickly if the powers behave like the tooltips and descriptions say.
Also as long as there aren't a million optional powers, you do get used to them quickly.
Further depends on how expensive and how much of a hassle a respec is.
Would you *need* a tutorial rather than just a video? Many a time I've seen something on YouTube and thought "that's the powers/rotations I want".

You would think that, but sometimes just getting your hands and being able to *play* with the stuff is better.
Hell, I read all of the reviews for an ebook reader (Kobo, Nook, Kindle) trying to work out which one to go for... I was swayed by the kobo glo (backlit one) in reviews, but when I got to try the kindle paperwhite in person, that actually won out.
