The Horizon Initiative (working title -- suggestions welcome) is planned to be an RP-Oriented villain group of super-scientists. Our goal is the advancement of science and technology unrestricted by the bounds of law and traditional ethics.
The project sets itself apart from typical supervillain societies in that is is 'Open Source'. While the project ultimately answers to a board of directors, individual members are free to pursue their own projects with minimal oversight. Members are not expected to contribute on a full-time basis, instead working on the project when they can out of their own ill will.
The initiative will provide limited support to its members. Budding super-scientists will find themselves part of a larger network to help them to find their feet, getting them in touch with other villains in their field. The initiative will also occasionally run seminars on new discoveries and emerging technologies.

The actual name is still up in the air somewhat. The best name the two of us had was the Horizon Initiative, but we're still welcoming suggestions. I was envisioning a name ending in Initiative or Project that had a vague air of legitimacy.

We were planning on this thread being more general recruitment and planning than RP. There definitely seems to be some interest here, so I may work on throwing together an RP thread later. In the meantime, I'd like to get a quick tally of people, so just throw down a small OOC post or PM me if you'd be interested in joining. Short-sighted do-gooders need not apply.
For Snate and Rotten Luck, the group definitely has needs for minions other 'hired help' and we'd be welcome to have both of you. That said, we plan for the group to be more of a collection of rough equals than a strict hierarchy. More Legion of Doom than Cobra, etc.

Interesting suggestions for names so far. Collective is a good sounding word, but it evokes, in my mind at least, images of your traditional super villain groups, where you're either a member or you aren't. The reason I like "Initiative" as part of the title because embodies what this group is about. We're not a secret society or a dark brotherhood. We're a public project devoted to the advancement of science, albeit through nefarious means. Although, as my man Drosselmeyer has pointed out, Horizon Initiative sounds like an environmentalist group.
I've decided to test the waters with the name "Eureka Initiative." I think it sounds cool, while still conveying the meaning of the group. We're a loosely affiliated group of superscientists all working towards the same goal (world domination), and all living our lives for that "aha!" moment, when everything just clicks. Whether you've invented a new type of heat ray, figured out a new type of faster than light travel powered by children's tears, or discovered a more efficient method for distributing your mutagenic serums to the city's innocent, the Eureka Initiative is there to support you.

I'm going to +1 "Eureka Initiative". The priorities I had for the name were, in order, Technological, Forward-Thinking, Sleek, and Slightly Sinister. The name, IMO, delivers well on the first three. It falls short on the last one, but that one was last for a reason. I never wanted the name to be overtly evil, largely because that isn't how Drosselmeyer thinks.
Dross is basically Tony Stark, but willing to impose his will on others, and is legitimately interested in advancing science, albeit by any means necessary.

Tyranny is a science/ technology toon also. He was a traps/robotics mastermind. Let me tell you, using group fly with a horde of fully equipped robots was awesome. It was also neat to equip a bot with a bomb trap and send it amidst foes. He had a suit of powered armor for himself.
