Zombies are way to overdone. I would love SKELETONS!
This would just be the look. The commander has all the normal choices to power them, guns, powers, ninja kung fu...
(skeletons using martial arts would be soooo cool!)
The animation for summoning them would have the skellies erupting from the ground.
---AND, the skekletones would not all be the same. One could be missing a jaw, skulls could be broken or have a bullet hole, missing teeth, ect.
Now would they be perfectly white. Brownish yellow for an aged look.
and I love the option for cryptic runes painted upon them.

I think the only "simplistic reason" you see more zombies than skeletons in games like this is that they are likely easier to implement in computer graphics. The average zombie is still (mostly) a solid human figure but skeletons require more lighting detail and transparency (so that you can see through their ribs and such).
That said I'd love to have skeletons as a "pet option" for Operators/Commanders in CoT.

Absolutely! Skeletons are way more archetypal for necromancers than zombies. Also they're arguably a bigger threat than a zombie: zombies usually crush the head, skeletons are despicted as nigh invincible.
I'll go add skeletons under Entities ;)

I do not deal with the undead or sword magical aspects of MMO or RPGs. However, when fans look at a superhero mmo, they feel like their favorite classes will not be available. The sword wielding warrior, the samurai, the magical elf, etc. I feel like superhero mmo focus too much on men in tights, that they forget what market they are in...... This genre was raised on fantasy elements.
As a child, I thought my name was handsome, cause that is what everyone called me.
I mean CoT can definitely cater to samurai. might be a point on marketing, eh

As a "full circle" thing there have been plenty of necromancer-type characters in otherwise "tights-based" superhero comic books.
And Tim was an Enchanter...

I'm more interested in it catering to the Samurai-ko. :D

I'm just here to voice my support for necromancy in any and all forms.
Why yes I did play a mastermind.
I did a Mastermind as an alt too. Quite enjoyable. I summoned demons myself in CoX.

Can we have a pet-based set where your pets are illusionary clones of yourself? They look like you, but can only punch, kick etc and maybe shoot guns.
R.S.O. of Phoenix Rising
Or not-so illusory, like Harem in Grrl Power or Platoon in Wearing the Cape, or Madrox in Marvel comics?

I think at some point the devs threw out the idea of pets using something like a version of the avatar creator or power editor, or having other ways of customizing their looks and powers. It fits with their design goal of having cosmetics uncoupled from powers.
Technically if we ever get the "holy grail" capability of being able to fully customize the appearance of pets in this game then being able to make a set of "clones" would be trivial.
I think the only serious hurdle to this idea would be the network bandwidth ramifications. In a nutshell the game would have to consider a single pet-user player as if they were like 6 or 8 full human players in terms of transmitting all of the unique costume information of all of his/her pets around to everyone else in the game. That could cause huge network hits and make game performance suffer especially if you had many pet-users all in the same local area.
As a compromise maybe the Devs are considering a form of "limited customization" for pets. For instance maybe we'll get generic "demons" as a pet choice and then maybe get to choose the color of their wings/horns. By keeping the "customized" parts down to just a few bits of color data that would greatly reduce the network impacts (because the rest of the pets' data would not have to be dynamically communicated to other players).

I understand what you're saying, but I just want to ask if someone went with the "pets are exact clones option" could the hit be reduced? Or is that to specific a question given unknowns about the game?
I suppose it'd be reasonable to suspect if you wanted a class of Operator that very strictly only allowed for "100% identical clones" of the main player character as pets that the Devs might be able to "trick" the game into only having to send the given costume/body data across the network once and "reuse" that same data to display both the player and the pets on other people's screens. Doing that would greatly reduce the network traffic while still allowing for "customized" pets at least in some skewed sense of that word.
You'd just have to be willing to want to play that very specific character concept and hope that there aren't too many other people around you doing the (forgive the irony) same exact thing. Imagine if you had say 6 or 8 human players coordinating with "Clone Operator" characters who all looked like each other - you could potentially have like 30-40 combined identical players and pets. ;)

Over in the discord I kept asking about how customized pets will be, and apparently significantly limited: e.g. no auras. However, that's still lightyears past CoH had :)

Yeah I figure we may start with a few "hardwired" types like CoH had (say like robots, ninja, zombies and a few others) but then have at least a few ways to customize those types with maybe colors or a few other specific choices.
So for instance maybe instead of only one type of robot to represent a given pet we'll be able to choose from say 5 or 6 pre-designed robot types. My robots could be red ones of style A while your robots could be green style D types. It wouldn't be pure customization freedom but being able to have ANY choice would be better than no choice at all.

Last time I checked, the plan was some customization, not full customization. What and how much depends on a lot of factors not yet known.

Found the discord discussion, I still insist that it's improper to quote discord here but. It'd been said a bit ago*: their powers mirror the PC with some deviation (e.g. if PC has fire, pets have fire but can be colored differently), and I'm pretty sure Tannim confirmed limited auras on pets.
