Noble (Invulnerability/Super Strength Tank Concept?)

Was thinking about creating a potential main character or heroine opposite my gravity manipulator Ecliptic, and came up with a concept for a Justice League level (power wise) heroine with a magical twist.

Name: Iyawa Danjuma

Alias: Noble (In relation to rare, or precious metals)

Nationality: Nigerian American

Occupation: Architect

Origin:

Feel free to suggest thoughts or ideas. The main idea here is that she gained her powers from a blessing of the Yoruba God/spirit Ogun, diety of the forge, metals and warriors in Yoruba mythology.

Power wise, she is able to transform her skin entirely into a apparent bio organic metal, not unlike Emma Frost’s Diamond form or Colussus’s metal form. She is granted a incredible degree of superhuman strength and durability, making her a powerhouse and a literal human shield at times in the field.

I was debating ways in which to have her powered, and didn’t want to go the amulet route, and wanted some connection with her heritage and family. She is currently working on civil infrastructure designs in Titan City, and starting to operate as a superhero for the first time.

Thoughts on specifically how she could have gained her powers?

Hmm, my favorite noble metal

Hmm, my favorite noble metal is Iridium. Ogun could come to the Americas with the rest of the Loa. As an Architect, she could have been in a construction accident. I had a similarly transformed Tanker, who was a Construction Worker, he took his codename from his 'nickname', which he got for noble behavior. 'Stainless Steele'.

Ogun might have been interested in her for a while. Barons might give her trouble. ARE the Barons still a 'thing' in CoT, there's no Capechaser listing? Pyrebrands don't have a listing, either.

Ogun might bless her with Power and the Strength to be a Builder, or just to survive a disaster. If she called out for help? She might be, genetically/spiritually a Yoruba Princess/Priestess?

I've been messing around in the 'Wearing the Cape' universe, where superheroes come from a traumatic 'Breakthrough', often during an accident or disaster.

Ogun might bless her more slowly, a little at a time.

One of my characters is a 'geomancer' a mage who specializes in 'Earth', and her 3 manifestaions are all made of stone. 'Noble' might draw her own powers from the earth, as well, only focused on metals. Um, the unusual materials of a 'Ghostbusters' building might get all over her? Probably not pure Iridium, or anything else from the Platinum Group, but that might be hand-waved.

It all depends on how you want the Story to work.

Be Well!

Sounds similar to my

Sounds similar to my character Mighty Mite who was turned permanently into a 1-meter tall humanoid statue of enchanted Orichalcum. He is essentially a miniaturized, flying Colossus...

On your Character:
-First, based on the name he has chosen, I would gather that he is from a prominent family in Nigeria, but for some reason they came to the US. Maybe the descendant of a shaman apprentice and the 'princess' of a tribe that had to flee due to some cultural taboo against them being together. If you go this route you need to decide how many generations removed he is from the land his ancestors ran from. If he is the direct child he likely has a fairly strong connection, even if he were born in the US, likely explaining the high power levels you are leaning towards. Further generational distance would usually indicate lower power levels unless some other thing is acting to create a better conduit between him and his patron.

-Second, does he have some form of Nobelese Oblige that would drive him to look upon certain groups as his responsibility, but might also cause him to have a slightly more arrogant aire when dealing with others, particularly of the group he is supposed to protect.

-How old is he? This will help determine levels of education as well as income possibilities. Is he in a trade master, or is he an apprentice? Considering the rise in the popularity of swords worldwide lately, this may be a way to connect him to the forge. Another possibility would be that he is/was a steelworker, working in a plant making quantities of steel for various purposes.

-How does he view his relationship with his patron, does he view his power as a gift which gives him divine rights? Does he dislike being thrust into danger against his will by meddling a meddling outsider?

-Does he have a tragedy in his past that sparked his being approached by his patron? Or was he preordained by prophecy? Did he discover some artifact that opened the channel to the patron?

-Is there some individual or group that hates the hero due to something he has done/his connection the patron/or some factor based on why his family is now in the US?

-Does he have Family or Loved ones that can be used as leverage against him?

-Is his identity secret or does everyone know who he is?

These are just a few questions that popped into my head that you may want to see if you can answer, or ask for specific help answering. It is your character, and I have found, with mine, that keeping the bulk of the story mine, and getting input in certain areas helps me maintain a 'sense' of self with the character. Characters that others have done most of the lifting on tend to not be as interesting to me long term. Their story isn't mine to tell.

On a side note, Osmium Steel,

On a side note, Osmium Steel, also what Colossus is supposed to be an 'organic' form of, is one of the strongest alloys known, so it might be something to consider.

Also: Apologies for consistently referring to your character as he while writing the previous post, I was/am tired while writing it and will hide wildly behind that excuse.

I would apply a name like

I would apply a name like 'Noble' to a higher standard of behavior. "Noble is as Noble Does," said somebody. So this inner nobility could become a defining character trait and tell us things about the character. Ogun might notice that, too.

I recognize that these questions and Culach's don't help you describe the character, but your Answers to the Questions may well help you define her.

Be Well!
