Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Newcomer seeking guidance

Right, hi again. I already posted in the welcome forum, but right now I'm finding myself too nervous to join in any discussions. So I thought I'd see if anyone here is willing to help me out.

My story is that I only barely played CoH and I honestly had a really hard time getting into it. I was too shy and slow a typer to speak to anyone but my friend who first got me to play and never got involved with the community, but I heard so many great stories about how kind and supportive everyone could be.

Skipping to the present, I'm here now, I donated to the KS, and I want to see this become a wonderful game. But I feel like a total outsider. I didn't love CoH the way everyone else on here did. Sure I was there at the end and tears were shed, but I also remember the many times I felt frustrated playing the game. I think that's a perspective that can be useful to this new game, but I'm afraid I'll come across as critical and ignorant (which frankly I kind of am when it comes to MMOs.)

So is there anyone willing to help a shy, very easily intimidated newbie get involved?

Sure thing!

Sure thing!

The most important thing, is not to make assumptions.... but as long as you seek to express how things made you feel, or confused you, or excited you.... You'll be fine.
The second biggest thing, is to not get discouraged. Not every post you make is going to have a spot light on it and a crowd of worshipers ;P
the more you post, the more impact your feedback will have.

On this particular forum the easiest way to get involved is to go the "tracker" http://cityoftitans.com/tracker
it will show you what's being posted on right now.... scroll through and see what threads sound interesting, and check them out, see if you have anything you'd like to say..... and take it from there.

First off welcome back!

First off welcome back!

Second off unless someone's managed to invent an internet-based biting machine I wouldn't worry about anyone biting your head off for anything you say around here. Most people here are just like you - players hoping the MWM folks will be able to create a great game to play in the spirit of CoH.

If you've got a good idea for the new game now's the time to throw it out there. Obviously the MWM folks aren't going to be able to listen to everyone's ideas/requests, but I think they are genuinely trying to do their best in that regard. Everybody's going to have their own opinions on things and sometimes people do disagree with each other. But even when disagreements come up they usually stay civil and spark good debates about things the MWM folks generally want to hear about.

Just jump in where you feel comfortable. I remember lurking on the original CoH forums for a couple of months before I really jumped in and by the end I think I had posted something like 10,000 times in 8.5 years! Have fun...

Thanks so much, both of you.

Thanks so much, both of you. That tracker is definitely proving useful already, I had no idea something like that even existed. I'm going to try to be active around here and speak up where I feel I have something to contribute, and I'm starting slow until I get a better feel for the local dynamics. It's just a bit rough not knowing anyone when this seems like such a close knit community. For all I know each and every one of you was a local celebrity on the old forums/your server of choice. There's a 20 inch wall of ice still to be broken, and I don't even have heat vision. :P

First, thank you for being

First, thank you for being here!

Second, we value input and feedback.
-

Third, that's some great suggestions noted above. Don't sweat it. There is value in every idea and comment.

While many of us on the development team, and posting here, were players in CoX, its just as valuable to know what people want from a personal point of view. We are striving to keep the spirit of the old game, and to have a strong friendly community, but this will be a new game with new thinking mixed in.

We are a long way to launch day. So, check out the topics that interest you, and share your view. If you don't find what you are looking for, start a new topic. It just might be that other people are as interested as you are about it.

actually... it's more that none of us assumes any sort of 'celebrity'.... we're all just people (well, and americats ;P) and we try to treat everyone with friendship and comradere.....

...if you do the same, you'll be in the same company :D

(also.... what Terlin said ;P)

Welcome! Don't fear we do

Welcome! Don't fear we do know that CoH wasn't perfect heck no one said it was. So I really doubt anyone going to be making a fuss that you didn't enjoy it as much as someone else.
Speaking of that how about braking off some more of that ice and tell us what you found frustrating about CoH. You might be surprised that many others might feel the same. There has been posters who haven't ever played CoH so you have more experience then they do. One reason you heard so much about this community is that we strive to welcome everyone and if anybody bites at you we be sure to Pounce them.

You guys really are as great

You guys really are as great as I've heard. That's very reassuring.

Since RottenLuck suggested it, I suppose I can explain my experience with CoH. For starters, I like video games, but generally ones with an exciting story. Before CoH the only MMO I'd had decent experience with was Puzzle Pirates. CoH was also among the only games I played that relied heavily on keyboard controls. On top of all that, at the time I first got talked into playing I wasn't even a big fan of the superhero genre.

I had a few false starts. My first character I had only one goal in mind: No magic use. I wanted a sword-swinging knight transported to modern times, someone who didn't rely on MP or whatever the game I was playing called it, ideally a mobile tank with really high DEF. Obviously that didn't work for so many reasons. My second attempt was a Blaster of some sort based on the premise of hitting things hard enough and from enough away that they never got the chance to damage me. I can't recall precisely why that failed, but it did.

Then came my breakthrough. My friend who had much more experience and a considerably older account let me make a Peacebringer. I was psyched. This new, special character promised not only a more tailored story, but also combat flight. I could shoot enemies from the air! At least when I wasn't spending my time stuck in trees or getting horribly lost. Sometimes I even wasn't dying constantly.

But there was still a problem. I was spending most of my time on the game fighting groups of villains I knew little about and cared about even less. I think one mission was about retrieving or preventing the theft of a painting, and for some reason I ended up doing it twice on that character. Eventually the only thing that kept me playing at all was the promise that if I just got to a high enough level I would get to see exciting new places and go on missions that would tell me more about the Kheldians.

I got partway through the first Peacebringer specific mission and had a second character of even lower level in Praetoria when the game was shut down. On the very last day I made it a point to visit Croatoa, the one area I'd been most looking forward to getting to. So I really did never see much of the game and can only speak of the very lowest level sections.

Sorry that got so long. The TL;DR version is, I wanted a story-heavy game where I could kick bad guy butt with ease, couldn't build a balanced character to save my life, and never got a character much past level 5. But I do love Kheldians.

Yeah the good stories didn't

Yeah the good stories didn't really start till about level 10 give or take. The Hollows had a complete story arc for the area, Croatoa, Faultline and most of the higher level zones had story arcs. Before that you mostly handle street thugs. The Taskforces had complete stories and Lore was scattered about via Plaques and badges.

I would have loved to help you out (Mumbles curse words followed by NCsoft). Basically the old/beginning missions were the most basic. Most character builds don't really shine till the teens. Tanks were late bloomers as well.

Sigh two years can't pass fast enough!

One thing to keep in mind is

One thing to keep in mind is that ALL of us will be newbies when this game starts out. Now, some of us will already know some peeps from before (and yes, I do consider myself a 'celebrity', but that's just me ;p) and others we will only know from the forums here or the kickstarter page. But the vast majority of people we 'meet' will be complete strangers, and that's ok.

Just be nice to people. That's all I can say. If you are nice to people, they will remember you and be nice back. And take some time hanging out at the social hubs in game, like the Naughty Corner (shameless self-promotion) or other places people are congregating. I know I spent many an hour just hanging out and chatting. Don't be afraid to join in! :)

You've already declared one

You've already declared one desire: a story driven game which lets you kick bad guy butt (for a ReasonTM, I presume).

Look through threads you want to throw your two cents in on and post away. Don't worry if people 'sound' brusque. Hitting the right tone in writing is always a tricky thing.

/Mostly posted because brusque doesn't get nearly enough love. Brusque.

Sorry for the delay in

Sorry for the delay in responding, was sorting out some minor medical problems. I just wanted to thank everyone again for being so helpful and supportive. And Darth Fez, thank you for pointing out what I hadn't even realized was the core of what I was looking to express. I've been thinking on that more and it really does succinctly summarize what I most want. I'll be keeping those two points in mind as I try to be more vocal around here. (Er... type-al? writiferous? Whatever the written equivalent of being vocal is.)

At this point in the dev of the game all we can do is let them know what we want/like or ideas on how to improve things done in the past

Welcome Ciriun! There's no

Welcome Ciriun! There's no reason to be shy as we're mostly troll free around these parts. Besides we're all somewhat shy so you're no different than everybody else but I'm glad you made the effort and started a thread to introduce yourself. This is a great first step :D!

Don't be afraid to post since we're all friends here. As mentioned by others already, don't be trying to write the PERFECT post as it doesn't exists. Just post what you think and feel while being courteous to others and in no time you'll find your voice. You already made so many friends in this tread alone! Remember only way we can interact with you is by posting so don't be shy or overthink it to much...just have some fun and all will fall in place.

Send me a private message whenever you feel like Ciriun because we're all here to help other fellow Titans :)

May the wings of liberty never lose a feather

To Ciriun, Fourdain, and

To Ciriun, Foradain, and others with little or no COH experience:

You are our greatest need. If this game is going to succeed, it will need to appeal to people who weren't COH diehards. New blood! Don't get me wrong -- this effort is by and for the community that loved COH/V. But that community is already committed to COT (and probably the sister projects as well). We will need new voices. Please join the conversation!

And that community loved new players in its day. Maybe if you put something in a forum signature explaining you were a COH novice, people would notice and take that into consideration when replying.

No better time than now to

No better time than now to jump in, Ciriun. I know it can kind of seem like we're all in one big click, since most of us are Paragon City refugees; but one of the things that made Paragon such an amazing place is that more than any other MMO I've played, the heroes of Paragon City really wanted to embrace new players. You were welcome then, you're welcome now, and just think - when the game launches, you'll be able to say "I was there from the start."

And if, after the game's been around for a while, and you're not doing so great with it, look up Hero 911. We'll be there for you.

I almost ruined a perfectly good monitor snorting Mtn Dew when I read this.
I remember one time my roommate, who is not a gamer of any kind, came in my room while we were gathering for a Costume Contest.
The look on his face was indescribable. I think it was the only time I'd ever seen him speechless.

Welcome Ciriun. You aren't alone in the shyness department. In no time at all, you'll wonder why you ever felt nervous.
