Grav, a test subject for an unknown corporation which stored him in a hidden facility. Its believed that from a young age, they were training his body to withstand incredible amounts of gravitational force in hopes that they would develop new tech capable of helping astronauts withstand higher levels of gravity on different planets. On XXXXXXX 11, XXXX he was sent into what the other subjects called "Jaw" but was officially named B3-2, the most intense gravity machine. Every other person who entered, did not come out, except him. Instead, the intense levels of gravity changed his molecular buildup for him to become conduit of gravity, bringing him back from the brink of death. Now he is different. Now, he is Grav.
However his name is kind lame, so hopefully you guys can come up with something better

Honestly, if you want a real name for him, it could be anything. Unless these superheroes are going through the process of legally changing their name to sound more like what their ability is, then I just see them having plain names.
So call him, Greg or Mike. Whatever name you think sounds good.
Edited: Superhero name...im thinking lol

Also as a note, gravity powers can be used to simulate super strength and Invulnerability. They make themselves more dense. Making them harder to hurt and they hit harder.
Edit: Though Solid Form would be thematically better in this instance.
"Let the past die. Kill it if you have to."
While I like Gravi-teen, my image of this character is out of his teenage years, probably 25-27 in age. I also like the idea of 'G.'
I believe Singularity is already a Marvel name but not exactly sure.
I'd also prefer the name to be a single word.

You are correct about Singularity being a marvel character (just googled it.)

Horizon.
The event horizon of a black hole is where nothing can escape its gravity. Of course, this would imply he has planet-killer power levels, so might be too egotistical.
Neutro is a giant robot that had his own run of comics back in the day. 1967 one shot comic though.

Singularity appears to be used by Marvel for at least Five different characters. Isn't that a case of breaking any possible trademark, themselves? Singularity is also a word in common usage for a number of things.

Maybe I should consider female, instead of a male. Primarily because Im leaning towards Newtons Apple, and the fruit believed to be eaten from the garden of eden is an apple. And Eden sounds more female to me.

After some thought, Horizon could work, I could say he/she has grown an arrogance after what they went through, and survived, feeling ever powerful.
Definitely neutral alignment though, never taught the difference between right and wrong.

I had a gravity controller in CoH and his name was Schwarzchild. I loved his costume but I found the controller archetype to be such a chore to level solo that I don't recall if I got him to lvl 50 or not. (All my favorite player groups were redside, so I was almost always soloing on blueside.) I would like to try him again in CoT.
I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.
Nope, not the Jinx I was thinking of. In the Known Space stories, Jinx is a very large planet (with corresponding gravity) orbiting a gas giant which orbits Sirius-A. The descendants of the people who colonized it (via sub-light hibernation ships, no way to go back to Earth) grew up short and strong. They called their capital Sirius Mater, because on Jinx, Gravity is always a serious matter.

Ah, thanks, AEdwardBaker! That's just what I wanted!

Note that the tidal forces from the gas giant pulled Jinx into an oval shape while it was forming, after it solidified rotational energy became potential energy (higher orbit); the ends are now in vacuum (they put a spaceport on at least one End; I forget whether it was East End or West End), and fluids like air and water are in a rough sphere around the center of mass.
I have no clue how the Bandersnatchi survived Sirius B going nova sometime in the Middle Ages.

I was mostly mentioning that the name "Jinx" was in use by DC so using it for a city of Titans character would probably be a no.
But as Jinx is a name of an actual thing I'm not sure exactly how this works with copyrights.

Gravitar (with one "a") is an Omega-class (i.e. planetary threat) villain in Champions PnP lore, and a 10-man alert boss in CO. She's also snooty and French, wears diamond-studded lingerie in public just because she can, and once threatened to destroy Seattle if she didn't get a dinner date with Defender.

By the time I created a gravity controller in CoH, all of the really obvious gravity-related names (at least the ones I could think of) were already taken except for LaGrange Point.
He ended up being one of my favorite toons and since the announcement of gravity powers some version of him will be in CoT.
"I don't think you understand the gravity of your situation."

Marvel has a character called Synapse introduced years after CoH's Synapse. I'm guessing words can be generic enough not to qualify.
Really it would depend on how close the character was to the other.
It's not against the law to make a character named Wolverine, for instance. It's against the law to make it like Marvel's Wolverine. :p
This is a tough one. Not a lot of gravity adjectives.
Some actually used Shift, all I could think of was,
"Hush your mouth!"
"I'm just talking about Shift..."
you might want to go with more generic sciencey names.
Polaris is taken, so is Equinox.
How about

Gravitron was mentioned, right?
