Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Muting *Certain* Sounds

Ah so I was just reading the post about Masterminds, and one poster said it would be cool to have dinosaurs. Which I thought was cool. And then I thought, well hey, you could (perhaps) choose demon summoning, and then choose the dinosaur skin. That is, if MMs get customization at some point. That train of thought brought me to this: a shiver down my spine when I remembered THOSE DAMN SCREAMS and SNORTING the demons would make on a constant basis. I know you guys know what I mean, there was plenty of complaints on the CoH Forums on that back in the day. This reminded me of another one: The engine noise of the Portals at Portal Co. I used to go up the ramp and hide in the corridor by the elevator if I had to wait for any amount of time for teamers. Also the weird airplane noises of Kinetic Melee kind of got me a little.

Oh all the rest of the effects in the game were fine with me, and I hate playing with NO sound.

They always said there was a 'way' to disable certain sounds, but... I think the process must have been too involved for me. Hopefully, nothing as annoying as the constant snorting and screaming of five minion demons will make its way into this game BUT

Wouldnt that be nice if there was some way, even if it was a third party app, that would allow me to either turn off or even turn down, or hey, replace certain sound effects if I find them annoying.

The easiest method would be

The easiest method would be to have a general "powers effects" volume slider, so that ALL power sound effects (and those related to them) can be turned up and down in volume.

Downside to this: It affects all powers equally.

Depending on how they do the sound effects files, I could see replacing effects with your own choices as another option, although this then enters the realm of problems with patching (there is the possibility of doing an "override" directory which the patcher will not necessarily touch).

Downside: Patches have been known to "over ride" the override directory (not remove them), but make enough of a change so that the changes are no longer "valid". Can also be cumbersome to do (especially if a lot of sound effects need changing to something else, even silence).

Actually, Gangrel, what I'd

Actually, Gangrel, what I'd want as a Player would be a system that lets me decide the volume of Sound FX that originate from *my* character separate from the Sound FX that originate from all other sources that are NOT my character. Effectively the same thing as a Visual FX choice for All/Me Only/Minimal/etc. except with a volume slider for Sound that is keyed to the source of the Sound FX.

What I thought of right away

What I thought of right away was the old Sonic Sound FX. Oh how that was annoying, if only I could turn it down or turn it off.

THat is a nice additional thing as well...

*edit* due to the wonkyness of fthe forums, I replied to you Redlynne, as you were the last poster... Post was meant to be for OP of the thread..

Necro time!

Necro time!

I was thinking about having group heal on auto repeat when I found this thread. I agree that there are some sounds in some situations that players may not want to hear. It seems like the aesthetic decoupling would allow for choosing the sound and could by extension include the volume. It may be important to note that the ability to mute or lower the volume of a specific power may be important to both the player creating the action as well as nearby players who hear the action. I imagine it's easier said than done to give them each some control, but i'm also certain we've all played with (or been) a newb that couldn't figure out how to change a setting. For instance, it would be much easier for a player to tell their game client to mute the heal sound from other players than to try to ask every healer to mute heal.

As a side note, if the data on which powers are muted or reduced is tracked and analyzed it may indicate which sounds may need to be adjusted game wide.
