Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Multi-Tier Events/Missions

As my handle implies, I love me some comics. Whenever there is a question about this or any other superhero game my fallback is 'can we make it look more like a good comic?' One thing that was often used was the Giant Monster attack and there is a thread working on this right now. I would like to expand on the whole 'Giant Monster' theme and just call them Events.

An Event is something that many characters can join without necessarily being on a team. It can range from a Rikti Invasion to a structure fire to a Giant Monster attack. All of these sorts of things looked good in the comics so I suggest they'll be good for CoT as well.

But think about how the comics handled some of these things. You got Superman and Wonder Woman fighting the big critters, most of the rest of the JLA fighting their minions and then you have Batman and Black Canary beating up thugs, helping people evacuate and trying to investigate the source of the problem. This sort of thing doesn't pay well in most MMOs at this time...but it could.

Let's take the stereotypical scenario: The Giant Robot Attack. Dr Evilness releases his latest version of the EvilMegaDeathBot 9000 on Titan City and it's rampaging through the city. Now you'll have a few NPC heroes responding (because it looks dumb if they stand there recruiting while the robot stands right in front of them) but they can't do it alone! Enter our PCs to save the day! Now the big-time toons with their Invulnerability and their Super Strength can mix it up with the bad guy toe to toe but the Martial Arts guys who stealth most missions are kinda at a loss. But why should they be? Why not have an instanced mission taking place INSIDE the robot as it moves through the city? Some toons outside can fight the monster, save innocents (by shooing them away or shielding them from harm) or try to slow the thing down while others can fight the good fight inside the thing! As the crew inside moves deeper in they can smash vital equipment (shutting down weapons or slowing it down). You can set it up where you can defeat it completely from inside OR outside but the most effective way is to do both!

Same scenario with the alien spacecraft hovering over the city...or the burning building...or the secret underground base or whatever. Villains can participate as well as heroes because hey, they live here too right? They can even try to take advantage of the situation by looting or even fighting AGAINST the people trying to help. (This last bit is fuzzy but it sounds cool!) The point is that they could do this with almost any big event so it doesn't get stale. There could be post-event dialog (and backstory) of how Titan City has developed new construction techniques JUST to deal with the presence of so many supers.

Yeah, I know...bitch and a half to code. But as with most great ideas once it was done the same idea would work for LOTS of content down the road.

I remember when Star Wars was cool...a long, long time ago...

Sounds like a more detailed

Sounds like a more detailed version of the Lambda Trial kind of setup, just with things being more simultaneous and less phased.

I'm not sure the coding is going to be as much of a problem as the balance and overall rules. Could you add some detail to the mechanics, such as:

  • How would a player know what "part" they should be in, e.g. inside or outside the giant robot?
  • What if there aren't enough players interested?
  • What if there are a lot?
  • What if most of the players are in the classes/specs/whatever that would direct them toward one area, leaving one or two guys to take on the other area, likely overwhelming them?

The only thing I can think of that can resolve this is if there's a spawn of friendly support NPCs in inverse proportion to the number of involved PCs. (This was a notorious flaw in Tabula Rasa's control points; no matter how few or many PCs were involved in a CP assault or defense, the same thin gruel of NPCs were present, getting themselves killed or ignoring the hostiles actively beating down the gate. Whereas, on the flip side, the hostiles seemed to be able to completely focus on their job and had plenty of help.) This, of course, assumes the NPCs are worth a darn, and aren't just kiting the bad guys' AoE fire over to the ninja that's trying to hide.

Has anyone seen my mind? It was right here...
