Something to be considered if there is still time to (or the next time we) modify the forum software: Parentheses and links
Taking a not-so-random recently featured wikipedia article as an example: "Terms of Endearment (The X-Files)".
The URL is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terms_of_Endearment_(The_X-Files)
I haven't hit the preview button yet, but I'm fairly sure the link will break between that last underscore and the open parenthesis.
(hits preview button. An essential part of a forum software system, IMHO ^_^)
Yeap, that's where it broke. Now it leads to the 1983 movie.
I'm not sure if it can be fixed, or if it would take to many programmer-hours, but if it doesn't get fixed, I'd like to suggest a note about it in the Creating Links section in the Compose tips page.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terms_of_Endearment_%28The_X-Files%29 is what you are looking for.
For me, when I copy the address from the Firefox address bar, its like the link above...
If I right click and "copy link location" from a link on the page... then its like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terms_of_Endearment_(The_X-Files) (which will barf)
Being honest, not sure as to how easy it is to code something like that. I would have thought that these forums would have fixed that problem....
On the forums that I use (SMF version 2.0.7), if I just chuck in the URL "naked", then it barfs on the last bracket.
If i wrap it up in [ /url] tags, it works as expected.
Please note: This behaviour for me is on Firefox 27.0.1 your experience might change (especially when it comes to cutting and pasting links from the address bar) depending on the browser that you are using.
Well, let's check it out! Terms of Endearment (The X Files)

WIIGII!
So, perhaps that can go into the notes on the Creating Links section ^_^
Thanks, Gangrel!

I tend to use the [ /url] method in pretty much every forums I frequent (or their own version of the code) because it enables me to set a custom message for it, or if i just use the[ url] the web link for it...
