Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Linking costume changes to toggled powers

I'm thinking primarily in terms of travel powers: one irritation I have with CO is that there's no easy way to set things up so that my toon has wings or a jetpack, but only when flying. But more generally, it would be nice to be able to do this sort of thing with any sort of toggle: for instance, when my Stalwart toggles on his Indestructible ability, he “armors up”.

I think this could be done

I think this could be done back in CoH using a chained command; Basically, a single button that queues up your costume change and and toggles your travel power. This could get tripped up if you, for instance, tried to use it during a costume change cooldown period (so it would attempt to change the costume, fail, then toggle on the travel power, or vice-versa.)

I used a similar set of chained commands that would toggle flight whenever I pushed one of the WASD buttons, and toggled hover on when I released them, and sometimes it would get screwed up so so I'd be in hover mode while moving, but most of the time it would work like a charm.

CO seemed to have a similarly robust system for custom command buttons, but it was opaque enough, and their documentation was so crappy that I never bothered to delve into it.

Would such a system in CoT suffice for your goals, or do you specifically think that a linked costume change and travel power mechanic is the only satisfactory way to handle this? I'm really, really hoping such a system exists, because it allowed for so many neat tricks, including queueing up taunts (text; not the Taunt ability) with attack powers. A buddy of mine used it to say "Here comes the BOOM!" whenever he'd activate one of his longer recharge Super Strength powers, and it added a neat roleplay angle.

The devs have already

The devs have already confirmed that at least for now, there is no costume swaps allowed in combat. While this can change, it is currently to help low end systems.

Post 49 in the shapeshifting thread ( https://cityoftitans.com/forum/shapeshifting-0 ) summarizes the details we learned on Discord, while the thread itself has Tannim confirming the current limitation.

I don't think the original

I don't think the original suggestion has to do specifically with combat, though obviously some applications of this ability would be affected by that prohibition, like the combat "power up" he mentioned.

I would like my arms to

I would like my arms to change to wings when I use my fly power. I have one concept where My toon would breathe fire upon his enemies.

One thing that could probably

One thing that could probably be done regardless of what "costume change" limitations we're apparently going to have to accept with CoT is a set of emotes that would allow us to "manually move" things like wings or tails while we are otherwise standing still.

For example Dataweaver points out that earlier games (CO and CoH) usually only allowed your character unfold or flap your wings when you activated a flight power and were up in the air. In addition to that we ought to be able to have several manual emotes available so that we can fold, unfold and/or flap our wings without having to use a travel power to do that like the following example:

Obviously if you chose not to have wings/tails on your character these types of emotes won't do anything for you. Birds IRL can move/flap their wings without actually flying - we should be able to do the same.

I would point out that the scripting options in CO were insufficient, in that the only hook you could tie a costume change to was the keystroke used to toggle — which meant that toggling _off_ would trigger the same effect as toggling _on_. If there was a way to bind actions directly to the toggle itself (with activation and deactivation being separate hooks), that would be a different matter.

I would definitely love it if animations all took the form of emotes that could be triggered manually (for RP purposes) as well as being attached to appropriate hooks. “Flap my wings” would be one such possibility. Obviously, manually activating a “use my bow” animation wouldn't trigger any particle effect or release an arrow (though it hopefully would summon the appropriate prop); but since you're not actually using a power, that should be fine.
