Leveling Pacts

One thing that I REALLY loved in CoX was their leveling pacts. These were only around for a brief time, and when they went offline they never came back but I miss them! I could play with my brother without having any form of competition or I could play with my fiance and pick a debt magnet without falling really far behind. Sometimes I want to stay with my group of friends without having to be there every time or without worrying over every death, and certainly I don't mind pulling some of the weight when they choose debt magnets or can't game one evening.

This was the most helpful system in place for heroes that wanted to be a duo!

If we do add leveling pacts, I have a few suggestions:

1) Allow more than two people to enter into a leveling pact together. Its alright if there is a limit somewhere, but I think sometimes a trio is just as fun as a duo! (and my group has four regulars!)

2) try to allow people to make leveling pacts after fifth level if they want. CoX only let you make a pact if both members were level 5 or below. I understand this logic, you didn't want a level 40 to pact with a level 3 and power level him up (as if one character was behind, all the xp would go to that toon until he or she was caught up) but maybe have something within reason such as allowing pacts if a person is within one level. That way, even if you are 3 levels apart, the one can catch up and then they can resume. Batman didn't find Robin right away! (I know thats a sidekick but you get the idea - which by the way, hoping for a sidekick system)

3) would it be possible to pact with your own toon? Say I make two toons with different powers but the same costume or maybe like a Robin/Nighthawk thing. Then I could level them both (mind you, at a much slower pace) but have "the same character" with two identities!

Anyway, these are just some of my thoughts :)

I quite like this. I really

I quite like this. I really also liked the CoX Sidekick / Exemplar mechanism (I think that's what it was called). If you joined a higher level gro, you weere put up to near their level or if you joined a lower group, you were leveled down to match so you could still play without over-powering the group.

My wife and I LOVED the level

My wife and I LOVED the level pact! And my Wed. night super group would have put the whole team into one if we could have. Please put some form of this feature into CoT!

I really loved the heck out

I really loved the heck out of the levelling pact system. I made use of it with several people, and it was amazing. Loved being able to work on missions and such without having to worry over getting too high above the people I was levelling with.

Sorry if this is "necro" but

Sorry if this is "necro" but I just wanted to toss my two cents in here. Leveling Pacts and the sidekick/exemplar system were vital to my playing with friends. I really hope this is implemented in CoT.

Again, with the sidekick

Again, with the sidekick/exemplar thing in place, as good as it was, and with the Ouroboros options, I felt I didn't need a leveling pact. That and being in the same SG and was enough.

Yeah, Level Pacting just didn

Yeah, Level Pacting just didn't really catch on like CoH hoped it would I think. Also as mentioned it was just much easier and faster to just SSK. That's the one thing I truly hope CoT does, use the Super Side Kick system CoH had. Nobody else has done it, and I really never could understand why not. I'd probably be playing a lot of other MMO's if they did. WoW might not have lost me so fast if they had SSK implemented in it.

I got chills! They're multiplyin'. And I'm losin' control. Cuz the power, I'm supplyin'. Why it's ELECTRIFYIN'!!

NECRO as in necromancer.

NECRO as in necromancer. necro-, the Greek prefix meaning death. So in this case it bring back the dead/old thread.

Personally if I was going to

Personally if I was going to add level pacts, I'd like to see them mean more than just sharing xp. Have a power pool or some such that you can only take if you're in a level pact, and have the powers in it only be usable on the people you're pacted with to both further encourage using these things for their intended purpose and reward players for doing so. I'm thinking the powers would be either much stronger than normal power pools, or things you normally wouldn't be able to get from power pools. Probably more the latter since if we allow level pacts of more than two people then that gets very overpowered very quickly if we're not careful.

As for allowing them to be formed at higher levels, if it was me I'd make it any time before level 5, and after that only with people the same level.

Faster and easier depended on what you wanted to do. If your need was just "Playing with a friend" then the SSK system worked fine. If your need was "keeping a pair of characters the same level" then it was not easier. The leveling pact solved the age old MMO issue of "you've been playing without me". Sure CoH has the side kicking from the beginning and it is a wonderful system that the rest of the MMO gaming world should have blatantly ripped off immediately. I can not speak for everyone, of course. If it was slow or unneeded for you and you didn't use it that's fine. But to people like me and my wife it was a godsend and we were quite upset when it was dropped at the launch of Freedom.

Powers you can have only in a level pact? "WONDER TWINS POWERS ACTIVATE" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktUx57i63e0

I can see something like that working.
