Hmm...

A collection of ten or so clues gathered during normal missions indicates the regular bad guys are sacred to death of something lurking under a certain building. Repeated visits to the building by the hero uncover nothing until the hero arrives just as the sun drops below the horizon. For about 90 seconds, a gateway appears to anyone who has gathered the full clue list. The gateway leads off to an instanced map of the surrounding 10 blocks or so. The hero knows whatever this new danger is, it is underground, so chooses to head down a subway entrance in front of the building. Below the building an army of sentient beasts (yet to be described) has gathered and is preparing to use the gateway to invade Titan City!

A strange statue appears in the park/plaza with the phoenix statue. No one knows where it came from or who put it there. It is the figure of a woman in a long, flowing dress, her hands upraised to the heavens, her gaze skyward, her head adorned with a garland of flowers. At the base, a plaque that reads: "She is coming". About ten days later, witches garbed in black or deep blue begin appearing at random throughout the city. They destroy cars, scatter civilians, and do battle with heroes. When defeated, there is a brief flash of the statue and then they are gone. Clues begin popping up around town. Scraps of paper found in the streets, hand-written messages in the pockets of defeated enemies, enemies NPC that babble incoherently, saying over and over again, "Lady Mary is coming. She is bringing her people home. She is coming soon." A giant of a woman accompanied by a dozen others suddenly appears in the area of the statue. "Where is my vambrance!" She cries. "Return it to me at once!" Teams of heroes gather to do battle against her. The battles rage for three days. Every time she or one of her lieutenants is defeated, they reappear somewhere else in the city rampaging, causing chaos, demanding the return of the Phoenix Vambrace worn by Anthem. Then one day it ends, and the city returns to normal, or at least as close to normal as it ever is.

Shortly after the player logs in one day, an NPC runs square into them knocking them to the ground. "Excuse me," the NPC says, then runs off and vanishes in the distance. The player finds a book on the ground. The title of the book is, "Ten Days Before Armageddon". It's blank, except for one page which says, "ask Aether Pirate Captain Denali". So the player begins attacking and capturing Aether Pirates, interrogating them to discover the whereabouts of Captain Denali. It turns out the Captain commands one of the largest Aether ships. Although taking down the ship alone is not an option, the captured Aether Pirate who gives up the Captain also reports that the Captain is meeting with several other high-ranking Aether Pirates at a building on the far side of town. As the hero heads to the meeting place, a flying hero is repeatedly ambushed by smaller Aether ships (which can be defeated) while a ground-based hero (such as superspeed) is ambushed by small bands of Aether Pirates who deploy from low-flying ships that seem to appear out of nowhere. The hero finally makes it to the meeting place, but Captain Denali is gone. After fighting through the crowds of Captains and Lieutenants, the hero finds another book with the same title, but this one says, "ten days to go hero, can you find me in time?" Searching through the building uncovers a variety of items, papers, and computer files indicating a vast army of Aether Pirates is gathering at one place just on the edge of town. Off the hero goes to their final showdown with Aether Pirate Captain Denali.
