When I play paper and pencil RPGs, I generally like to make a character that fills a void, if there is one, in the party. For this reason, I usually pick my class last (and end up being the healer...).
It dawned on me that my perks via Fashionista (the weapons/props I get to design) might fall into the category of "things I'd like to pick after everyone else picks so as to be complementary and not redundant"
With that in mind, I'm starting this thread so we can talk about what we're maybe going to do with such perks when it gets to be decision time.
I get three props/guns, or so I'm told, as Fashionista gives one and includes all levels below it, which includes Double Trouble and Registered Lethal Weapon each of which also gives one.
My thoughts so far on this have been primarily techy stuff. I hated that CoH made us wait so long for honest-to-goodness jet-packs as costume pieces (even the tech wings and rocket boots weren't quite right, and the temp power ones were limited in fuel and you couldn't use them with your inherent Fly power, etc). For that reason my intention as of right now is to ask them to make me a jetpack of some kind. As for other stuff, I'm not really sure what I want. Some kind of Wrist blasters a la Space Ghost/Man-At-Arms/Deadshot were a thing I wanted at one point. As for the third one, maybe an old-fashioned wild-west-ish gun of some kind? I don't know.
What does everyone out there in cyberspace think? Are you getting a Kicksrtarter perk like this? What are you going to ask them for? Is anyone feeling bold enough to suggest something that I might adopt as one of my choices?
At the very least, if like 20 people reply with "I was gunna say jetpack too" then maybe we agree on who is going to officially ask for it and then everyone else is free to figure out something else. I don't know.

Backpack ANYTHING ... including Jetpacks, Wings and Quivers full of Arrows ... ought to already be on the MUST DO list of costume pieces. I know that I for one really enjoyed finding uses for the Retro Space costume parts, particularly the jetpacks.
Interpreted broadly, Lethal Weapon could be a heck of a lot of things, so long as it's an OBJECT (as opposed to an animation or just simple FX).
I'd take this to mean practically any Object that ought to be ostensibly tied to Power use in some form or fashion. The obvious swords/guns are "lethal" weapons intended to be used for attack powers. Want a specific type of sword/gun in the game? Here's your chance. But it would also include other less obvious possibilities. An animal companion, perhaps, that you could use to project your powers from. A utility belt. A bandoleer of knives, not just of machine gun ammo or shotgun shells. The old Assault Rifle garage-kitbashed "omnigun" of City of Heroes (slightly updated with the serial numbers filed off). A "Pineapple" laptop computer. You could even do something as exotic as a Projected Aura that defines your character ... like Spirit of the Tiger as seen here in the (always fabulous) Spinnerette comic ... as sort of Totemic Signature.
And then if you want to get REALLY exotic, there's always something as simple as "Rainbow Attacks" where you'd be doing stuff that either rotates through the ROYGBIV colors or deploys all of the colors simultaneously as bands of light. Set aside the fact that most people think of rainbows as being "goofy" and consider that the Rainbow Movement Aura in City of Heroes was actually really damn cool looking ... even when standing still (make that especially when standing still).
If you're a Sailor Moon fan, there's always "World-o Shaking!" as an inspiration for what could rather easily be a relatively mainstream/serious attack power, despite its origins. I do NOT recommend a Moon Spiral Heart Attack (go look it up if you don't know) for ANY superhero genre game, since a 40 second animation of helicopter takeoff hair spin-spin-spin-spin is just too damn for long anyone to wait through (although the 20 ft high concrete heart crashing through adversaries has its merits for humor value).

I still think a Whip Sword is cool. ;D

But then, that's a Claymore for you. ^_-

I would be greatly surprised if we didn't have some kind of jet pack at launch. That isn't to discurage anyone from cashing in their perk on one, especially if you have a unique take on it.

Considering that anything designed for these perks is going to be exclusive (for a limited time, granted) there are certain things you wouldn't necessarily want to ask for ... because they'd block everyone else from getting them (for a while). Something to think about.

That's a good point. Perhaps it'll be possible to waive your items' exclusivity to make them available to everyone immediately. There would be no obligation to do so, of course, but it could allow eligible benefactors to help the game look better at launch by giving everyone more creative options.
And I don't say this selfishly nor to imply that these players should do so. I'm just saying that it could be an option.
That being said if someone wanted to design an "MINE" jetpack and the devs are already including 1-3 basic jetpacks there is nothing wrong with that either.
It may mean that the dev released items are in some way "lesser" versions so as to make those people that spent big in the KS feel like they are getting their monies worth but I don't see a prob with that either as once 1 years or 4 issues passes (whichever is longer) the customer designed options will be avail to all (prob via the Market).
I'd design a Piano Travel Power - you change into a Tux, a piano and chair appear and you fly/drive down the road whilst playing "O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana:

Even though the music uses an orchestra and not just a piano that's part of the Power :)

If I recall some people already said during the Kickstarter that they wanted their perks to be non-exclusive.

Yes I'm also fairly sure that it was possible to ask the Devs to waive the "period of exclusivity" for items created for the Kickstarter. IIRC some people declared (in this forum) that they chose to make their Kickstarter items non-exclusive from Day One and I thank anyone who decided to do that.
But like cybermitheral said I see no reason why the Devs couldn't provide "basic" versions of a given item to everyone while also creating "fancy/unique" versions of the same item for a Kickstarter supporter. Nothing says they have to do that of course, but for the most part I can't imagine the Devs deciding "well we need to create a given widget for Kickstater player X so we absolutely can't provide any vaguely related version of the same thing to the general playerbase at the same time".

I knew what I was going to ask from the moment I decided to up my KS level to one that included Registered Lethal Weapon.
One of my characters wields an ancient magical war hammer (Shield/ War Hammer tanker. So much fun... ) I always wanted a custom look for her weapon, and in CoT she'll have it.
