Just thought I'd try my hand out at a prosaic backstory.
----
2078.
Kiara Shields was a little young to be fighting, anyone would admit that. Seventeen years, and she may be the last hope for the timeline. Scorpion has taken over the world, and has expanded into galactic conquest, and those who aren't in their good graces live is the scraps until they die, one way or another. Kiara wasn't just anyone's daughter. Her father was Kieron Shields, a scientist and engineer who worked with alien nanotech that was supposed to arm Scorpion with more weaponry.
But that wasn't going to happen.
Kiara sat in the ruins of Titan City, located in what was once known as Aurora. She thought about what she was going to do, how the fate of time itself hung on her shoulders. Kiara sat on an old refrigerator, eating an apple. A slow day, a calm before the storm if one could describe it.
"So, are you just about ready?"
Travis, her mentor. He was well-built and tall, and had superhuman strength. He was a resistance fighter himself, the few that still remain. Kiara nodded as she stood up, throwing her apple aside.
"Guess this is my calling in life, isn't it?"
"It's what your dad wanted, and it's what you want, correct?" Travis said.
"Yeah, I don't want anyone to live in this hellhole. But..."
"What?"
"I'll never see you guys again, will I?"
Travis glanced to the side, it wasn't easy yet it was completely unavoidable. He took a breath, and put his hand on Kiara's shoulder.
"We can take care of ourselves. You have something greater on your hands, and only you can do this. I don't know if it's fair that it has to be you, but that's how it is."
"True."
Indeed, it could only be her. Kieron had lived a life of sin in order to keep his family comfortable while countless others suffered. That kind of guilt was what made Kiara run away from the paradise she once knew, and join the ones trying to stop it. Yet, even in the end, some can be redeemed, as Kieron proved. The experimental EVA suits that were meant to boost the capabilities of Scorpion's soldiers were destroyed. All but one. Kieron went down in flames as with the suits, ensuring they could never be made again. And the one suit that remained is the one Kiara is wearing now. She wished she could see him, one last time.
Kiara walked alongside Travis, not speaking a word. Their destination was a seemingly unremarkable, run-down abandoned building. A hospital, apparently. The doors open, and they rode the elevator down below. It wasn't any old building, rather a secret hideout of the Paragon Resistance, named as such after the famed Paragons of yesteryear. The underground was rather drab, and a little dark apart from the computer lights keeping everything illuminated. Their situation didn't grant them the best of hideaways. The elevator landed and opened.
Time to get it done with.
They made it to the secret room, and the doors were opened. Right before it was, the time machine. No one but her could go in, and that's why it was her destiny. The time machines could only transport non-living matter, and anything living would be disintegrated in the stream. But her suit remedied that. The EVA suit, a gold and black skin tight suit made of alien nanomachines, would keep her protected as she went to the past. Kiara closed her eyes and sighed.
"Let's get this over with."
Kiara stepped forward, and with a thought the EVA suit began forming around her. It was completed when the helmet was formed, completely concealing her body. She took a good look at her surroundings, the last she would ever get.
"Many good men and women died to get to this point." Travis said.
"I'll make sure it wasn't in vain." Kiara said.
"You know, you're going to be a superhero. Thought of a name?"
"If I'm being fully honest? No."
"Tomorrow Girl. That's what you'll be to them, so why not go with it?"
"Old-fashioned and a little corny, but it'll do."
With that over, Kiara stepped inside the machine. She looked back at Travis, operating the device. Then, came one final salute.
"It was an honor."
"Likewise."
And with the press of a button, Kiara was in present day in what felt like in instant.
"Let's see what good Tomorrow Girl can do here."
----
Appearance
Tomorrow Girl wears a skin-tight gold and black suit, which can include a helmet for extra protection when she needs it. The suit is advanced, more than what can be done today, and made as a combination of Earth and alien tech.
Out of that, she has long-blonde hair and stands at 5'9", making her very tall for a seventeen-year-old.
Personality
Tomorrow Girl puts on an act that she comes from an amazing future and is merely a "tourist", so as to prevent panic or word getting out that the actual future she hails from is a dystopia. Because of that, she exaggerates (though doesn't lie) her personality by playing up her curiosity and eagerness to see the world, so as to endear herself to others. Her main goal to prevent Scorpion from causing her bad future, specifically by changing the part where everything had shifted into their favor.
Powers and Abilities
Tomorrow Girl is not inherently superhuman and all of her powers are derived from the suit. With the suit, she gets super strength, durability, flight, energy blasts, and a wide variety of weapons and gadgets. In fact, it's basically a "do-anything robot" that gives her whatever she needs, able to form various tech out of nowhere through the nanomachines. She can form energy weapons, extra limbs, claws, blades, jet packs, and more. She doesn't need to put the suit on either, as it's implanted inside of her and can form around her body at will.
Inspirations
Booster Gold, Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes), Impulse/Kid Flash (Bart Allen), rolled into a teenage girl.
Awesome bio for Tomorrow Girl! I really dig the the days of future past vibe I get from this. I bet faction wise Tomorrow Girl will probably work in a NATO/LONGBOW organization to thwart the spread of Skropion before they take over the world. I wonder what will happen if she sees a younger version of herself in Titan City? Interesting situation. :)
