I don't know about anybody else, but something I really miss from the old CoH days, were the comics that got sent to your home. There was a (fifteen?) comic story arc that got sent, and inside the comic were stories written by players that were submitted and I found it to be a really impressive way for the game to reach players on a totally different level. A whole game's worth of writers and artists doing their own concept art and putting down their own City of Titans stories. I thought the writing was good and the illustrations were good also, I don't know what kind of artist team is working on CoT, but something like that would be pretty cool. Stories involved in the CoT universe, their heroes, NPC's, Villains, even if it was just web based (Your not a comic book publisher, and I realize that.) I think it would be a great way to get players involved and invested in the game world, provide insight into some of the locations of the game, give players the chance to experience the dev's vision through a different medium. perhaps the comics could even have something to do with story arcs or something? Give the players something else to do when not pounding baddies.

I've thought about it some more. And I think Comic's could be a great option for players as the game expands, probably not at release, but afterward, if the art and design teams have time. Imagine Online comics based on Player Characters? (Would of been awesome for the Kickstart Donate X amount, and we'll feature your first character in a future web comic.) Players who preform tasks in game could be featured in the web comic series, OR dun dun dun... have their OWN SERIES. A single hero, or a "Supergroup" Featured going through their own designed storyarc, or ones designed by the Devs. The CoT Version of the Justice League or the Avengers, with input from the players, it could be pretty amazing, though it does get off the main point of playing the game. I just think it would be an awesome thing to shoot for. Of course if enough people get into it, the Devs would have to hire a whole new team or two of just artists and designers to make all the comics. It would be a pretty expansive enterprise.

It's far from being a statement that they will publish a comic, even one that's web-exclusive, but...

Like I said, it's probably a bit far out there in terms of feasibility and it's no question that the devs have more importannt things to do then launch a sub business involving web comics. I just think it would be pretty awesome at some point, maybe it could be like a once a year contest? Players write in, telling about their hero or a story arc that they have thought of, or maybe something like 'The best player made story' of the year, could work with the team in putting out a web comic. That way it's not taking away from the game, just adding substance.

The cost is definitely a primary factor, which would include key elements such as quality and regular publishing. Beyond that I think MWM would see it as a marketing tool. I believe that they have said something to that effect, but I do not recall where they may have said it and I'm far too lazy to search for it. It's definitely something to keep on the radar until there is definitive word from MWM, one way or the other.

Yeah, I suppose the cost incurred by diverting attention away from the game proper is a concern, I still think it would be pretty awesome to see player generated characters featured in or having series fashioned after them. Offer them with a fee maybe? Negate the cost to produce them that way. That's something that could easily be done through the game store. Buy a 30 page web comic featuring your hero for x dollars, (Not as a main character) buy a 30 page web comic featuring your hero for X+ Dollars (as the main hero involved) By a 30 page web comic surrounding your super group for X+X dollars. Again, I don't think it's something feasible at launch, but maybe something to be developed as the game progresses.
