What if....Base Designs of players could be used as pvp maps for the public arena/instances.
It could be randomized.
Maybe 'Selectable'.
Or a featured map of the month or quarterly, etc.

I don't see a problem with this. To be honest the environment shouldn't yield huge advantages to people, as long as there's enough space to move around for ranged casters. Playing in player made areas could be fun.
Will have to check out the feasibility of it mechanically.

Tossing out a few ideas in case they help...
Maybe folks could pay a fee in inf based on the size of the map to have a dev/community agent/whatever give it a looking-over for obvious flaws or cheats? Money sinks are always needed anyway, so this might solve two things. Flawed maps would get booted back and their fee kept, approved maps get...I dunno, half of it back, and maybe the other half if there's no complaints within 10 or 20 play-throughs of a map. Maybe get a bonus (based on the fee?) if the map gets up-voted and plays fairly/evenly?
Perhaps make it a Weapons Factory/Team Fortress style thing where you design 'half of a map', and the server flips the map to make the other half have exactly the same thing..?

Yay! My visualization of this was from Base Raiding in CoX. It just had bugs back in the day, but other than that, it was tremendous fun and excitement going into other people's/supergroups player designed bases ... for combat/pvp objectives.
I don't mind if there is a limit to number of players for these instances because that was an issue for Base Raiding in CoX. The instances would crash when battles and graphics got so intense. I believe it was 16vs16 back then.
I hope CoT retains 8man teams for all teaming, but I don't care what the limit is for base raiding as long as it can run, if it ever comes to virtual reality. Also, I don't mind if base raiding doesn't come out on launch, as long as it comes back when it is ready.

Base used as pvp map. That is one awesome idea that can set it apart from the rest of the games out there and the ones that came before it.
They have also put out that you can create a base with traps and have other players try to make it though your base. A fun twist on PvP.
