Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Ok, voted. According to that

Ok, voted. According to that it seems that the "real" battle is between CoT and SoH now, with VO coming in as a distant third.

I guess the main reason is that CoT has provided lots of information about the game, especially the underlying mechanics and capabilities, and put out some decent looking pictures and videos. SoH on the other hand has given out some great looking videos (a.k.a shinies to distract potential players) and some decent information but currently looks be as customizable (or "locked down" if compared to CoT) as CoH was. VO has done neither imo, barely reaching decent in both information and "shinies".

I looked at all of them seriously and hitched my wagon to COT. I am vindicated with every update.

I haven't forgotten Heroes & Villains, however, I was worried about it more than others and it seemed to really slow down in the updates.

Heroes & Villains imo at least wins in terms of MMO Name :p I however, am looking forward to CoT more and voted for it :)

Indeed it's name is solid, which is why Marvel trademarked it in 2009.

I wish all of the successors the best, but I thoroughly looked into and keep looking into all of them, and only CoT interests me. Not a criticism, just my personal preference. So here I am awaiting the second chance :D!

I like and agree with your title for this thread. Glad to see CoT coming out on top, but don't really see the need to increase the natural situational competition that already exists between products.

So here's my opinion of each

So here's my opinion of each of these successors. I'm not trying to force anybody to think differently or change their minds; this is just where I, personally, stand.

Ship of Heroes: Frankly I have the most poorly reasoned... Reason that I dislike this. It just rubs me the wrong way. Its videos have a lot of flash, but the world itself doesn't seem to be fleshed out with a lot of substance. It comes across more as a City of Heroes wannabe than its own game. I get that nothing is final, but it just doesn't look like it's really trying anything new. I'm also not a fan of the setting and I really don't like the name. Development has been fast and they have been very open, which is great. Those folks know how to do their PR and MWM could stand to learn from them.

But at its core, something I can't put my finger on sets off alarm bells.

Valiance Online: This one started really strong. They were the first to start development, and they communicated early and often. Then something happened and that changed. It seems they stopped communication and development has been a bit lackluster. I was also really disappointed in the PAX presentation where the guy talked a lot about backstory but didn't have anything to say or show for the actual status of development.

Heroes and Villains: I followed this one for a bit at the beginning, but it turned into a kind of "Valiance at PAX" successor, with a lot of talk but nothing to really show for all that chatter. Updates have slowed, and I have yet to see anything resembling development footage.

Redside: Not much to say about this one. It came out of nowhere, felt like a cash grab, and their website shut after their kickstarter failed spectacularly.

City of Titans is the one I follow because they are more than just a City of Heroes wannabe. They want to expand upon and improve upon the foundation that CoH laid. The developers are passionate, driven, working on their free time to make a game by gamers for gamers. It is so clear they love what they are doing. And the stuff that they are really exciting me about is the stuff that shows how they will be different - dare I say, better and more fleshed out - than their predecessor. The devs have built a deep and interesting world that fits in ours, with a deep, complex, and fun sounding approach to combat and missions. They have been open and communicative; as I've been saying, the ones who say the devs just say on the money and didn't do anything are the ones that stopped paying attention. Especially at this point in time, I'm freaking pumped for CoT. Now is the time for people to pay attention.

That said, and I'm going to harp on this a bit, I think that CoT could be stepping up their PR game. The disconnect between twitch and YouTube and other mediums I think is a bit of a problem. I believe there are ways to link twitch and YouTube accounts so that twitch vids, or at least highlights, can link to YouTube. I have missed some really great updates because of not knowing about or checking twitch - I just don't use it much. There are other things that could be done, especially as the game gets closer to release, but I would like to see people staying interested. I know that folks "stopped paying attention" eleven though updates never stopped, but it pains me to see them saying "oh CoT is vaporware" when that's not true.

Also, CoT is the only successor I've seen outright say they will make it so that people can play the game in some fashion even in the event of a shutdown. Now get me an offline mode (sayonara patch day blues) and I'll be golden.

For the most part, I'm incredibly happy with MWM and the game they are building is looking better by the day. My body is ready.

I just don't share that excitement for any other successor at this point.

Now frankly, I am not thrilled with Massively OP feeling like they needed to do something like this. I don't see what purpose it serves. Seeing this article annoyed me a bit.

Oh snap Doctor Tyche! I didn't know you had it in you... ;)

TBH, I've always been a fan of the "grey areas" between pure Heroes and Villains so a game literally named Heroes and Villains would have likely left me feeling like the forgotten leftovers in-between. *shrugs*

Yeah. And I know Doc and MWM don't want this kind of competition, but, since that ship already sailed in this case, I figured we may as well vote and support them : /.

Just the other day I saw a SUV that had a rear window wiper. The funny part was there was a sticker of a cat right where the wiper stuck out from the car and on the wiper itself it had a separate sticker of the cat's tail. The net effect of course was when the wiper was on it would look like the cat's tail was whipping back and forth. ;)

Typical media needs to put

Typical media needs to put the projects against each other, when in reality, I believe the three projects are friendly and encouraging to each other. They were all inspired by the need to fill the gap left from CoH. Regarding your review Safehouse, I agree with much of what you said. I think the main thing drawing me to CoT is that it is set in the current world. Why must these other versions be set in the far off future. Comics have had current time heroes for over 75 years. I mostly have been watching SoH and CoT. While the continuous updates from SoH interest me, it seems clear to me that at release it will be a much more scaled down version of a game than CoT will be at release (not that it can't be great.). I agree CoT could do more to promote themselves. SoH has done a lot of walk through interview videos with gaming channels. Certainly this is something that could be done to get information out beyond the forum members.

The voting is just a

The voting is just a popularity contest between the people bouncing around in the echo chamber. It doesn't mean anything beyond whatever the pollster wants to pivot against. Plus there are only 862 'votes' atm. It is meaningless.
