I was only using 10% of my power!

Okay, so, this topic is actually about turning off your level and exemplaring ingeneral. In CoH you could find in the back of the setting the ability to turn off your level, which I never learned to get a macro for, but that would be cool... In any case, what would be nice is an addition to that, that didn't require someone tagged as your teammate, just you an a level slider, say at level fifteen you get this ability, or any time.

This was cool and useful because there was a tonne to do in CoH, at almost every level area, so I never got to do everything, auto leveling down was nice, but this could also be useful when you're broke and need influence but don't want to advance in level... Cause you spent it all on costumes and base parts. Now you need enhancements, go stop lowby mobs, which could have it's own inborn other incentive, but nothing more than something monetary or reputational...

Also useful for comical effect for anyone wishing to pretend they're not pretending to be dragonball, or outright doing so... I would love for no one to know you're hiding your level.

As much as I absolutely loath

As much as I absolutely loath that trope and believe that any writer that uses it should be banned from owning writing utensils or keyboards, I like the idea of a manual level slider.

Heck, it could even apply to people that just happen to really enjoy or dislike a particular level-range of content. Don't like any of the lvl 30-35 content? Scale yourself back to level 20 and mess with those goons (at a relative leveling rate penalty) until you're capable of level 36.

Heh, I think it's a horrible idea too, but still want to be able to totally hide my level. I guess they could balance it too and you could have XP disabled or enabled. It really could be a much more intricate mechanic.

Or use in Role Play. Okay

Or use in Role Play. Okay your character is an Ironman like fellow. Civilian his level is 5 where in full armor it's 50. Or after a major battle the Good armor damaged, you could swap to an older armor design that's less powerful so your level would be lower 24. For the Rp reasons he have different levels.

-------------------------------------------
Personal rules of good roleplay
1.) Nothing goes as planned.
2.) If it goes as planned it's not good RP

I like it.

I like it. Or at least some similar mechanism.

I had 4 costumes for my mains. Civilian, new/low power level, mid career/mid power level, and late career/full power level. I used them while leveling, and then once I'd reached 50+, whenever I did Oro missions or Exemped down, I'd change to the costume that fit the level I was playing at and pretended it was in the character's past. Like how you jump around narratively in a movie or a story.

Man, that was fun stuff. I miss CoH. You guys are really doing a good thing by keeping it's spirit alive!

I thought of another thing

I thought of another thing that would be interesting/entertaining, discouraging attacking the 'newb' in PVP, I know most PVP would be scaled so everyone was at a similar level, hopefully. However, on a PVP server if we had overworld PVP one could set their level down and wait for someone who's ganking lowbies and trap them. Hahaha... It would add depth to the game, I think, and instead of requiring anyone to play with to get to outleveled content or do something like Oroboros to give people access to old stuff. They just dial down their level.

OR, you're rolf stomping whatever you're on and want a little more challenge, dial down a level or two and have fun again.

This reminded me of something I thought of that I think would be an absolute blast, but it probably isn't practical.

What if there were a PVP "game" where a full team of low-level heroes went against a ful-level Villain, or vice versa. I think it'd be a hoot to be on a team of lobies trying to take down a monster Max-level, and I'd be a great power trip to be a Max-level fighting an entire team of lowbies.

Of course it'd have to be at least somewhat balanced, and that could be tough. And someone would take it to seriously rather than as just a crazy-fun lark and complain. But I'd LOVE to do it on either side once in a while.

No, I totally agree, this sounds awesome! A team of level tens vs a level 30, and then when the level increases you just had another tier of 15 vs 40 or whatever the new cap is. Would be a really fun PVP game.

I think it'd be a form of PVP

I think it'd be a form of PVP that would really give a comic book "hero team vs ubbervillain" or "evil team vs iconic hero" feel.

In that way, it's maybe more appropriate PVP for a Superhero game than many PVP games that come from other genres. And I honestly think it'd be an absolute blast. Epic fun.

I didnt read the rest, maybe

I didnt read the rest, maybe someone already mentions this...
it seems to me, the reason why you wanted to Stint your toons leveling up is because the Enhncements turned Red and Stopped working, right?
If that was the case, I rather just NOT have them Stop working altogether (so never turns red, just really dark orange), and Still provide the Some (Lowest possible even) Bonus. :)

That would be nice too, by

That would be nice too, by the same token gear replacement is one of the ways they have to try and help people sink game currency in, just like costumes, which to me seem like a better, more enticing sink. Though that could have been balanced by making enhancements that I could buy for flavor or awesome, I don't mind if they become less effective, but all red, sucks. It would also be nice to have no gear binding too.

I don't think you should be able to send it on endlessly, but instead of making expire after x time, make it x trades, that way if it has been slotted, 3 other people can slot this without breaking. There has to be some loss or we'll have huge amounts of influence on whatever trading market there may be, I want competition for prices, but I don't think it should be encouraged when people put items and gear up to show off, or farm influence to bloat the market. ERr... Lots of tangents...

There were many reasons I wanted to drop or halt leveling, doing content at the relative intended difficulty was one thing, since even exing down you had access to more powers. I liked that, but also liked the challenge of coming to a set of missions I'd done before and seeing how better I do, or worse, on a character set to that bar. I have a horrible trouble no matter what game I'm on, for some reason, keeping my gear up to date...

The fact that you eventually outleveled your enhancements was an intentional Influence sink from day 1.
