The target release date is late 2016. Late as in November or December. The game isn't even in Alpha stage yet. So don't expect anything playable till mid 2016.
That said they are trying to get a Character creator out by the end of this year. Next year a Base Editor program.

Personal rules of good roleplay
1.) Nothing goes as planned.
2.) If it goes as planned it's not good RP
I thougth it was late 2015 for a "Backers only" beta... and 2016 for normal launch.
Although if you go off the dates on the kickstarter, it doesn't really make it any clearer....

But seriously, I thought the game's release was slated for late 2015 or early 2016, so I would expect beta to occur shortly before launch around that time.
It was hoped that they could do 2015. That was before some set backs and some good help. There was changing of the game engine twice. First from Cryengine to Unreal 3, then they got the okay from Epic to do it in Unreal 4. That's a whole new engine to learn how to work with. Plus side it would speed things up and has a lot of built in things. Negative side is well it's the learning curve, taking what been done and redoing it for UE4. There also been business side of things slowing down production.
The good news is with each step back they taken two forward. Cry there was issues with the company support. Epic turning out to be very helpful and encouraging. So things should be steamrolling very soon.
