I noticed on my Facebook news feed that MWM has decided to give publicity to a namesake radio DJs gofundme account to help him pay for his life costs. This dj is asking not only for help to clear the medical debts accrued for suicide attempts, but also to support his agoraphobia and give money for food, pet expenses and miscellaneous household supplies.
Is this really appropriate? It doesn't feel to me like it is helping solve the the issues that got this person into financial trouble in the first place.

From a person who once tried to kill himself I can tell you just knowing someone cares even slightly can be the edge to strive to fight on. On top of that I also know the struggle to dig out of financial hole often for me it trying to catch up to past due bills.
Besides what are we if we aren't willing to aid our fellow man when we can? Sadly I can't I'm moving and need the funds I have to move.

I understand what you're saying, Zero. Just giving people money to keep doing what they are doing isn't always helping in any real way, it's just... stalling sometimes. And sometimes it's harmful, letting them keep on with old patterns.
But, we don't really know in this case, and it's this or nothing--what other avenues should they pursue to help him?--so I say pitch in a little because he's one of us, and it MIGHT help.
