What had players coming back to DCUO was the grind for styles and tiers. CO handed everything to the player, and I have no kids, so my pockets can afford nearly every style. The only endgame gear (That mattered) was justice iirc. After that, there was nothing left to do.
Still early, hopefully CoT keeps the player busy, as-well as the alts. DCUO did a great job of that, it did not feel like a chore. I liked the gear tiers, kept me coming back. These could also be done solo, but slowly which was fair/great, so those whom are hurting for time can log on and solo some marks.
As a child, I thought my name was handsome, cause that is what everyone called me.
But CoT will not have gear like that. There will be tokens that enhance some aspect of your character's powers, but nothing that will replace your stats with better stats, or change your Look based on having tugged on Superman's cape.

I see what you did there. :) Do Villains get bonuses for pulling off Ol' Lone Ranger's mask, or am I just spitting into the wind?
I, for one, still want there to be Rare and Very Rare Augments and Refinements (and Power Set Augments) that exist so that I have a way to keep upping my character's powers over the long run of multiple months. I can see getting a toon "done" within a year or so of play, although if I had to earn all of the swag with the actual toon that needs it, that would take longer, as I play a lot of support toons, which in CoX were less efficient swag generators as soloists than my Mastermind.
They also said in there that dropping badguy mobs isn't going to generate items, from what I gather. I wonder if there will be any reward for doing that apart form XP then. Apparently, acquiring crafting components will be it's own "hunt and gather" sub game, I guess? Maybe contacts send you on missions for that stuff, maybe you get stuff like that at the end of the mission/TF and not during? Maybe you just have to go mine for stuff to make it exist.
And what, if any, reason is there to defeat outdoor mobs then, apart from XP?
Maybe they're still going to generate IGC, just not crafting components. That would make more sense.
