So, I was thinking the other day about in-game development, how it would be done from an RP perspective.
This idea is very loose and conceptual, and I am by no means a dev, so there's no promise of it entering the game.
I had noticed in CoX that there were several construction sites that never showed any progress. And I thought, what if they did?
Potentially, when the map(s) is/are small in early game development, there could be construction near the borders, with some workers doing stuff, and forklifts carrying stuff around, concrete being poured, etc., and the nearer ot got to the release of the update and expansion of the map, construction would proceed. Say every month or so.
Or, when new areas are added, roads or other zone transitions could also be under construction. But from what I understand the game won't be very zone-oriented.
This could also work with in-game currency stores and such.
Thoughts?
To be fair, the reason why stuff in CoX looked like it was starting to be built and then it "carried on forever" was because the developers nixed an idea (or the game closed down) before it was fully realised.
Speaking of which, did they ever say what that area at the NE corner of Steel Canyon was going to be?

Oh, I had no idea. I came to the game a little late. And I think that's actually what site I was remembering.
Sandbox/Combat MMOs are the future. That said, I can't think of a way that this game can/will handle the tech of a sandbox as of now so I hope they just make an expandable model where new stories can be readily told and maps are not static to the point where you've "seen it/done it all before"

I believe the notional idea back at City Hall was that Steel Canyon would be "reclaiming" parts of Baumton ... meaning the War Wall would get moved.
Suffice it to say, whoever was the Mayor of Paragon SimCity needed a lot of help with the tutorial ...

LOL. At least SimCity could help prepare the mayor for giant monster attacks. :-)

That was going to be the launch pad to get to the space station and moonbase. But that got nixed when they realized Praetoria would be a much better route to go with for what became Going Rogue.
