Will Robes And Staves Be Available?
A lot of my heroes are, quite literally, Mages that nearly all have Magic Origins. Would just like to know if this is something the devs were considering?
Is the game Free To Play?
Or is an active subscription required?
How do Gear And Costumes work?
Do you earn pieces for your costume or is it decided by ypu in character crestion?
Will there be a Celestial/Holy/Light Powerset?
Alright I try to answer for you. Note I'm not a Dev but I been around the project for a long time.
Robes are an iffy. As far as I know it's a yes, the Unreal Engine 4 should with all logic be able to pull off the look. That said the animation and design of characters are still in the rough stage and Robes may not fit with all the animations. it may come down to clipping issues. So I ask the magic 8 ball. Answer is fuzzy ask again later.
Now the game pay system that I do know. As of right now it's a Pay to play. You buy the game and can play for free after as long as the game is active. You can also subscribe for bonus items and unlockables. Otherwise you would have to pay to unlock those items. So very much like City of Heroes system.
Gear and Costumes are directly inspired by CoH. There will be no "GEAR" that affects looks. You can start off looking however you like (given you have the costume parts unlocked via the pay store or sub). So if you want to start off level one with a Body Armor from the Dark age you can.
Powers can be modified and improved via another system unrelated to Gear/Costumes.

Thank you for that.
I *think* that the way the payment system would be termed in modern game parlance is "buy-to-play with a cash shop and/or an optional sub to upgrade" or a "hybrid model."
I think. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. And they have stated a strong commitment to keeping it from being "pay-to-win" by having everything that you can buy also available through game-play.
Either way it is very similar to the City of Heroes "FREEDOM" payment system and to what many games are doing now.
FIGHT EVIL! (or go cause trouble so the Heroes have something to do.)
Just to add two cents to this topic Elder Scrolls Online is just getting ready to switch to this exact "hybrid model" you're talking about next month and news of that has been generally well-received by the playerbase. The new cash shop is being tested on the game's test server right now and it seems like they are doing their best to avoid any "pay-to-win" items so far.
ESO started off a year ago under the traditional "full subscription" model and most people believe the switch is in anticipation of the game being introduced on the big console systems later this year. Whatever the reason I figure if the whole thing succeeds it'll be more good evidence that CoT will work well under that system.

Hmm if Elder Scrolls Online going that way it might be worth my time to buy it now. I didn't want to buy the game then pay a sub for something I didn't see the value in.

Yeah that's apparently what a lot of people are saying. I was actually one of those "silly fools" who's been enjoying the game since it launched and if you average what I've paid for it in the last year (box + monthly subscriptions) versus how many hours I played I probably only paid about a dime an hour for it. I don't know about you but 10¢ an hour is pretty cheap for my entertainment dollar. YMMV of course. ;)
For what it's worth ESO is scheduled to go B2P on March 17th. Welcome to you if you feel like playing now - who knows you might actually like it enough to contribute to keeping it going with your hard earned dimes...

I was a beta tester so I did get some experience before making my choice. On top of that at the time I was short on spending cash, making better money now.

Whereas I got to see it from the other end. I worked Customer Service for ESO for 6 months, starting in pre-launch, and during that time it was just about impossible to get away from the "this game is going F2P within a year" posts on forums about the game. I got to see it from the inside as well as the outside, which was a rather eye opening experience, even just doing Tier 1 support.
So yeah, when I heard that ESO wasn't even going to make it an entire year before going F2P ... let's just say that there was a lot of rolling around on the floor howling with laughter.
