Double target system

I've played several MMO's over the years now, several of them with their own unique features, most with very similar features. One of the most useful and interesting that I found throughout the games I played was in Warhammer Online. They had a very nice system which allowed each player to target one enemy and one friendly target at the same time. this allowed for some interesting mechanics such as directing drain spells or siphon type abilities which you could direct to your teammates. It also made it much easier as a healer to add debuffs or damage to a target while the tank or group was doing well and not in need of heals or buffing.

Is there any thought of adding this mechanic to the game. It seems like such a great opportunity to add more diversity to how certain powers interact and makes certain jobs on a team less boring.

Dont forget "Focus targetting

Dont forget "Focus targetting" as well, which is very similar to what you are thinking of here as well....

Basically, you have your normal target, and then you can choose to focus on another mob, so that at the click of a button, you can flick your targetting back to your focused target to healing/damage/CC whatever you want to do to that target.

Quote:

1) I reject your reality.... and substitute my own
2) Not to be used when upset... will void warranty
3) Stoke me a clipper i will be back for dinner
4) I have seen more intelligence from an NPC AI in TR beta, than from most MMO players.

Focus targeting is decent.

Focus targeting is decent. But it is still only allows you to actively target one thing at a time. Anyone who has played Warhammer Online, especially a healing class there will fully appreciate what I am talking about. There was some really interesting synergy that came from targeting like this that you don't get from a lot of other games. One of my favorites was a spell that debuffed the enemy target while buffing your friendly one.

Focus Target (ie. remember

Focus Target (ie. remember THIS target so I can get back to them with a keybind click) as well as Target Of My Target ... so that if you target an Ally/Friend and click an Attack, your Attack will hit what your Ally/Friend is targeting, allowing you to "support" them by selecting them specifically.

I prefer this. To avoid me

I prefer this. To avoid me having to constantly swap targets, I'd like to be able to either heal / buff my ally or harm / debuff the enemy he'/she has targeted to support them rather than having to do another key press to swap between them (I'm one of those people who mainly plays with one hand so that's why it would be better for me).

The Secret World also employs

The Secret World also employs the Primary and Defensive Target focus mechanic. Your toon is always the default Defensive Target, but you can select any friendly or NPC as the defensive target if you wish.
