Fire/Energy(and later Pyre/Pyronic) Scrank here. I know as scrappers y'all scoffed when you read that :), but tons of AoE DoT on top of two heavy hits and two buildup powers gets the job done solo--even at 4x8 against double groups of Cimerorans (and their team self-buffs really build up to nasty levels when you're just swimming in 'em.) Saved my double-buildup Total Focus/Energy Transfer for the bosses. Big numbers, but all the while little numbers were steadily bleeding them.

Good times. Good times. He's going to be an Atrophic/Kinetic/Atrophic Stalwart with fire/energy aesthetics--untill Bastion comes out...

I mean certain factions had Lts. or Bosses (old CoH classification of Boss) that alone or with their spawn groups were hated [b]because[/b] of their brutality.

Some examples:

Sapper
Dark Ring Mistress (and regular to a lesser extent)
That giant Freakshow guy in essentially a mini-mech
The original claws/regen Paragon Protector, before its nerf, this was maybe the worst of all.

By worst, I mean best. Oh were they hated.

Yeah pretty much any list like this would be heavily dependent on which character archetype you were using at the time. I suspect the specific critters you listed here only seemed -hard- to you simply because they uniquely exploited the few weaknesses your particular type of Scrapper wasn't designed to handle very well. ;)

On the other hand while a well built Controller could not usually solo things as quickly as most Scrappers could there was never really [b]any[/b] type of MOB that would give Controllers much trouble unless it included certain EBs or AVs. Basically things like Sappers or Ring Mistresses were usually just as easy for Controllers to deal with as pretty much anything else.
