As the reviewer plays through a 2007 game, he seems astonished how the scenery makes him feel.
Is there a game or scene in any of your games that evoke the GOOD Feelz?
3D Games preferred, as I'd like to explore the possibility of emulating that for our cities in CoT.
Thanks.
:)
Yes. I have never been more immersed in an mmo than I have in the world of Age of Conan. I never ran from quest giver to encounter. I walked (I soloed a lot). Even today I find the graphics exemplary. Looking in some files the other week I found 200+ screenshots of CoH and then found 1000+ of AoC. The costumes were great and the scenery was captivating. I walked through steamy jungles, forlorn deserts, snowy mountaintops, villages and Tarantia. Most of the dungeons were oppressive and spooky in a great way, as well.
However, I don't like Funcom's business model and AoC felt perpetually laggy even on my best gaming rigs.
Btw, I just found TheLazyPeon a week ago. Hilarious.
Almost everywhere in Oblivion or Skyrim lol.
Atlas Park (sometimes called "Altist Park" by those of us who made a lot of alts) was a pretty uplifting place to hang around.
R.S.O. of Phoenix Rising
I like the look of forgotten realms in DDO.
And in COH I liked the look of most places, except for the hazard zones, Faultline and Brickstown.
The one hazard zone I liked the look of was Perez Park, But the totally impenetrable canopy of trees was kind of a problem.
I did not like COV at all and later on I did not like the look of Pretoria. Though it was nice seeing a residential neighborhood with houses, even if they were all too small.
The sewers in COH were better than the sewers in DDO.
Everything in Age of Wulin looks totally awesome!

I agree with most of what's been said here, so I'll throw VARIETY into the ring.
For example, though not pretty, I LIKED the chaotic, gritty feel of some of the hazard zones, and the trippy feel of the shard. I liked Nightward a lot too. And classic comic books always did have a huge variety of settings.
So, while lush greenery is always good, since many will play and everyone is different, a good variety of zones and feels, flora and fauna, city and wild, on land and undersea, would be good.
FIGHT EVIL! (or go cause trouble so the Heroes have something to do.)
In enjoyed Croatoa in COH. I hated the lack of villain diversity. But it was fun pulling all the magic quests, But in the end I went there for change of scenery and the big mobs you could pull.
With Titan city being in the NE, I would love to see a little 1776 time travel action.

Croatoa was well...pretty for it's time. I personally loved that zone out of most of the hero zones. It just had this....charm to it.

I always really like Founder's falls. I think if that could be recreated that would be incredible in the new engine. You combine the water elements with a modern but quaint architecture. The twisty streets narrow alleys and canals plus it was just bright and cheerful.
I also liked DA, not so much after the redesign, but it had a strong ambiance that gave it a character. I would have liked to see that reinforced made darker with more powerful bad guys that would increase the "fear-factor." I didn't play secret world for very long but I got a similar feeling from that game.

I really liked the environments in Resident Evil 4. Even today after playing through more times than I can count, each of the three major environments (village, castle, and island base) really pull you into the world. They manage to feel both real and surreal at the same time, the perfect atmosphere for an action/horror game.
