Hello everyone
Something that has always interested me with heros as well as villains as the Anti-variants that exist within the groups, heros without moral codes and villains with moral codes.
What I was wondering is do you guys think in the game it would be possible to skirt such things, be between both villain and hero, favouring one or the other depending on if you seek something or the other, for example someone who acts a mercenary may be somewhat criminal but also act positively etc.
Regards,

Unlike CoX, we will not have a dedicated blue side / red side. We will all exist in the same city and they have said we will have a three-axis alignment system to determine whether we are heroes or villains or something in between.
However, we don't know much, yet, about how the missions will change based on our alignment or what it will mean for PvP if you're into that.
"I don't think you understand the gravity of your situation."
That sounds good as a concept, hopefully we will hear more about it at a later date.
No telling exactly how all this will actually play out. While it's cool that under certain circumstances heroes and villains will be able to work together as they did at times in comics and in CoH, I do hope that the classic comic book "line" between hero and villain doesn't get so blurred that it becomes inconsequential to gameplay.
The hero/villain dichotomy is a fundamental aspect of the genre--though so is occasionally blurring it. Just not so often that it becomes effectively meaningless.

The thing is you can't exactly call someone a villain necessarily but they may not be a hero, for example you have merc's etc now these guys act on different things be it money or favour etc, but does that make them villains, for example if theres a war going on technically they are fighting for a valid side, doesn't stop them after their contract aiding the side of "good".
I have never believed good and evil exist but rather we perceive different things as good and evil, based on what society decides.
On the level of manifest reality, that is a valid argument.
BUT, we're not talking about reality or philosophy, we're talking about the conventions of an established fictional genre, and comic books do have heroes and villains.
Yes, occasionally sympathetic villains, anti-heros, vigilantes, heroes who fall, yes, but the fundamental underlying matrix that this all plays off of is the fictional dichotomy of Heroes and Villains.

Thank you that was an interesting read and perspective, it will be interesting to see how it works in practice.
If you want to explore farther into the discussion of alignment, what it means and how does it compare to heroes and villains, perhaps you may want to participate in this thread:

[hr]I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.
