--The Displaced--
--------------------------------------
"Refugees come to Titan City from across space, time, and even dimensions. As it would happen, the situation has steadily exacerbated and politicians were eventually forced to confront the problem. Their first step towards a solution: gather these individual plights, stick them in a big pile and give it a fancy moniker to sell the media - Displaced.
"I'm just another drop in the bucket; a survivor of a different Earth, one that was locked in a war with a cosmic threat. We were on our way to stop said menace from using its trump card. We didn't make it.
"Still, there were other survivors. I don't think I've been closer to any of them than Tanya - probably because she's the reason I'm still here, and the closest thing to family I've got left. Every now and then, I'd find another familiar face. But their eyes... those sad eyes were forever warped by the horrors to which they were witness.
"I just had no idea how warped they truly were.
"Shortly after we arrived, we were taken in by the Displaced Naturalization Agency. The people there were kind enough, sure. But what happened next dried up even their charity. You see, there are those among us who picked up some baggage on our way between different space-times. The kind of baggage that kills.
"It all happened so suddenly. Displaced who had crossed dimensions and already passed through DNA inspection and training with a clean bill of health began mutating into horrific, violent monstrosities. Isolated incidents at first, but more and more were on the rise. Soon, nearly 38% of the dimension-crossing Displaced population were something less than human. And among them - Tanya.
"Where once we found ourselves merely lost, the Displaced - even the ones native to this dimension - were now viewed by the public as something criminal... if not to the law, then to nature itself. Though I have fought to repay my debts to Titan City's citizens, I cannot help but feel somehow betrayed as those like me are looked upon with scrutiny while the few loved ones remaining to us are abruptly taken and leave only horrors in their wake. However, the evidence is incriminating beyond doubt and now even I have to question how long I have left to remain human..."
