From the description, doesn't sound like they like unregistered dead persons walking around. Hope all the living challenged Supers have their walking papers. On the up side, sounds like they are perfectly willing to work with the dead or dead-ish.
So, they're kinda like Supernatural meets Ghostbusters meets X-Files, with a goodly dash of G.I. Joe? Sweet!
I bet these guys get into jurisdictional tiffs all the time, especially since their scope of influence seems vague and their purview is "areas where legal status is vague or simply irrelevant." I look forward to encountering them in the game and reading about their exploits!
I wonder what season "Agents of P.I.T." is on?

Okay, got it cleared up. The BUREAU was founded in the 1900's. Before that, it was an office within the Secret Service. Grant founded the office. It was made into a bureau in the 1900's. It should be reworded for clarity.

Huh, I like the PIT. They could be a certainly interesting group.
I only have one question though. Could they perhaps have superhumans/supernaturals on their mercanary payroll? Like ghosts, specters, vampires, werewolfs, necromancers, and the like whom can help them catch any hostile cryptids?
I would be somewhat surprised if they didn't do that. Or at the very least they didn't contact friendly cryptids or experts via association.

1) My name is miss spelled in the credits. It's Osborne, not Osbourne.
2) I see some people are picking up clues as to the easter egg I planted in this faction, but no one seems to have picked up on it completely... yet :P

1) Most of my old main alts would have at least some bio reason for dealing with PIT, which is fun to imagine
2) I think I'm getting a feel for the general "aesthetic" of CoT lore, and it's just damn exciting

I can see a lot of fun with the Paranormal Investigation and Tracking. Given my main is an Undead I wonder if he going to have to have some kind of ID three of them. One his drivers ID, Hero ID, and finally the Supernatural Resterestration ID.

I'm pretty sure that the primacy of the federal government will mean that any registration as a quasi-living entity with PIT will meet any local registration requirements. That, or it's part of RL's parole paperwork. ^_^

I like the idea of PIT. The possible situations in storytelling from an in game and Role-play perspective.
Normand Rants (“The Investigator”)
Every interaction with this character needs to be a minimum of one page or end with a "*You stop listening and slip out the door to investigate XYZ*". If he is ever on a mission he needs to be talking constantly. Even if dead. Then during the mission after you've stopped paying attention he'll say something like "that's interesting" and the lights will go out. Bonus points if the writers can slip in hints about a side story

The point of most of these organizations is to allow you to find a space for your character to exist in - they're the harmony to your theme. PIT is one of the most obvious - all of the above plotlines and styles exist within them and can coexist. As well as stranger ones.

I'm always so heartened hearing the general tenor of MWM Dev thinking. It's very much in the spirit of CoH. An open lore that you can create within and participate in, or ignore at your pleasure.
Personally, I used to love (read: spend hours and hours) weaving my favorite characters' themes and bios into the fabric of CoH lore.
But I played with some who ignored or were intentionally blissfully ignorant of CoH lore altogether.
Very open and accepting of all play-styles.

This reminds me of the SCP Foundation, I like it! I admit I wasn't very knowledgeable about the lore in CoH beyond the basics. My attention span is that of a toddler on Red Bull so I basically just did a very fast glance at landmarks and lore outside of what was relevant to a mission. But I find myself really absorbing CoT's background and lore. Maybe it's because I'm so excited for the game I'm just taking what I can get but either way it's all great stuff.

There are so many Easter eggs you can sneak in here.
in a Frankenstein style adventure, the heroes can sneak through a lab full of brains with the names of the donors displayed, one can read: Abby Normal.
In a cursed trophy room at HQ, there will be a Chucky doll locked behind glass. It glares at the players.
in vampire adventure, the players have to question a Renfeld character in a madhouse, he keeps eating bugs.
An NPC dances through a gothic Titan city cathedral, He's a hunchback, who only says, "The Bells! The Bells!" ask the clerics and his name is Bob.
WEEPING ANGELS! statues with a different pose and position every time you reenter a cell. Place on in HQ where missions are given out...no one at HQ notices anything different

Hey Ozzy, remember me? I just wanted to tell how excited I am to see PIT is still in this game. Life hasn't permitted me to be of much use to the project since pre-production, but knowing the work we put into these guys will be there to play with, just makes me so happy.
