With the end of the year coming at us faster than a speeding bullet and with as much certainty as a locomotive, and with the recent setback and update delays caused by the repository server failure; we thought it was time to give you a feel for the overall status of the project.

So the update says get 'issue

So the update says get 'issue #0' out to backers by the end of the year....does that mean the 2nd Chance will be before that so everyone has the chance to be part of issue #0? I hate the thought of missing out on something when I'm willing to pay but wasnt around for the initial KS.

Quick question: Comparatively how many episodes/storylines do you have so far and how many would you like at launch. Where are you in the completion of world "depth".

Thanks for the update! I'm very excited to eventually play this.

I know that one series of pictures was about how you're animating the trenchcoat, but I am still excited about the fatslider. In both CoX and CO, I have had ideas for heavy, even fat characters that I was unable to really make to my satisfaction in either of those games. Not all of my characters will be making use of this option, but I love that it is there.

New to the forums. Has there been a solid (or semi-solid) statement as to what Issue #0 will be? Will it be just the character creator? Will it be a small, incomplete area where we can move around, see our characters in daylight and in motion against the backdrop of the city? If this latter, will it be client-only, or will it be online so we can see other characters, even talk?

From what I've read and what others have speculated elsewhere, I'm not expecting a fully-realized playable game in Issue #0. I'm just curious about where on the line between "character creator" and "fully playable" Issue #0 will be.

Web site update coming. Nice. Goes back to "Working on things"

Newest release version of the avatar builder. One of the things we've been waiting for but no date mentioned.

More missions. I'm guessing that's a "There will be more missions at start than we planned" but not 100% on that one.

But it all looks to be "We're working on it still! No worries!"

As I've speculated for a while now they are probably going to be kicking off the "Second Chance" event pretty much at the same time as they release what they are now apparently calling "Issue #0". As they've always said they wanted something significant to "show us" to make the Second Chance worthwhile so it makes complete sense that the best the thing to "show us" for the Second Chance would be Issue #0. ;)

There have been discussions about this in other threads where the Devs have been involved. Let's just say the Devs have "strongly implied" that Issue #0 will not ONLY be just the character creator but basically a relatively limited version of the "entire game".

In fact when they've recently talked about their "unique licensing situation" with the folks from Unreal apparently the only way they could release -anything- was that it had to be one single product - there was no functional way for them to release the character creator independently from the rest of the game as they had initially planned to do years ago. Based on that point we're left to conclude that Issue #0 pretty much has to be "the game" in a nutshell.

Now to be perfectly clear Issue #0 will start out in a VERY limited state. Again based on what the Devs have alluded to we will not begin with any functional combat powers or the basic ability to attack MOBs to earn XP. On the other hand we will have some portion of the real city maps to move around in (possibly with travel powers) and it's strongly likely we'll have a workable chat feature. All this is based on the fact that when I asked a Dev whether it'll effectively be like a CoT version of Paragon Chat I was given the straightforward answer of "Bingo!".

I'll leave you to be the judge of what all that means. ;)

Nice overall summary! I have to say I like the general art style we're seeing. If that's gonna be the vibe of the revamped website, I think that's an excellent idea.

Am I correct in thinking every individual in the Make Anyones has been created in the AB?

In the old game I didn't become a badger till I had played for many years. I was hoping to delay that addiction in CoT for at least a year or two, but my reaction to seeing those prototype designs tells me that's gonna be a futile dream.

Will someone remind me please: is an episode in CoT analogous to a mission or an arc in the old game?

I really wish you guys hadn't mentioned the name Harvey up in this thread, because even before I read that when I looked at the middle trench coat guy I was thinking someone was trying to create a Harvey Weinstein... :-o

Finally, I'd like to echo the questions above about Issue 0: is that just the AB, or is it the game itself? And is that beta by the end of 2018 or full release of whatever that Issue will contain?

Man I really need to work faster on whittling down the games in my Steam library, considering the dust that will gather there once CoT comes out!

this is the first girl I've seen from the CC. Not enough detail to really see what we are working with.

Faces are a major challenge for any game. they sell the product. Costumes are great but the face tells the story. Faces are what I would like to see in a future update.
Faces, hair, skin textures, make up, expressions....this is my personal meat and drink, and is just as important as the costumes.
Could a dev please let us know (even without pictures) where we stand with faces/skin?
If we are well along in that path...could I coax out of you a pretty female face? We haven't yet seen one. Thanks for even considering this.

Actually if you look just to the upper left -and- right of the Capt. Marvel clone in the pic it vaguely looks like those characters are also female. Unfortunately it's hard to judge the detail of ANY of these characters given the one pic involved.

Now, I could tell you the crest and earpieces are modular accessories for the head... or perhaps I could not. 😏

That is currently my personal favorite mask/helmet in the game so far. I’m biased :p

The piped collar piece is a part of that armor however, you are right.

Hm. Just a thought but what if the whole "Look Closer" thing doesn't mean to look closer at the images, but instead the update itself? Surely enough the Devs wouldn't dare hide anything in the images and run the risk of it being blurred/distorted due to how far one would have to zoom into the said images and strain their eyes. Right? After all, three words are italicized in the latest update: 'Explore', 'Mark', and 'Badger'. Perhaps these are keywords that hold some significance? As of the moment of me posting this, it's 4 in the morning so this could be my brain over-analyzing and overthinking things just a bit.

Gaining trust is not an easy thing to do. Losing trust can happen in an instant. Regaining trust is almost an impossible task. Don't dig yourself a needless hole by employing wonky tactics.

So, we have the possible login button on the "new website" banner, and the little symbols Steamtank circled for us here and on the Discord. Can we get a confirmation that either of these things is what we're looking closer for?

Because I'm going with Dark Cleric et alii and thinking that while it may be obvious if you know what it is, the only way anyone else will spot it is pure luck, or a minor superpower. And I think the stewing is coming rapidly to a boil.

A thought: Is there a higher res version of those banners somewhere? Maybe it's as simple as the Devs not realizing that the text is illegible at the available resolution...

Taken by itself, it's a neat little update (and is any update something other than an announcement that "we are [still] working"?). I'm excited by the confirmation that a new website is in the works and that it'll be tied to an active publicity campaign. It rather looks like the intent is to launch the new website and the AB at the same time, but I'm probably making too much of the background used in the images.

Unfortunately, that it's basically a placeholder for a much anticipated update that's been delayed took a lot of wind out of its sails.

Okay, so my guess at what we are looking closer for... I see, in the bottom right corner of most/all stand alone full body shots of avatars, a small-ish circular shape with what appears to be a humanoid shape within (kinda like this: o\-( ). I saw it in the city background, as well as with the platform. SO, my guess is that all images shown were done in the CC, and that we will have multiple backgrounds / settings to view our characters in?

Well it makes sense to do so. Get the word out - have someplace shiny and new to direct people's eyes to, and better yet if you just happen to throw a little money our way via our 2nd Chance kickstarter you get to check out a part of the game we are working on.

Taken as a whole, polish and all, I think they are getting ready to take it "mainstream." They will actually have something to show off game-wise, have a clean, professional looking-site, and are wiling to open part of the game up for testing - at least to backers. We shall see in the coming weeks I suppose.

You'll also notice the cyborg arms in place on a character, scale mail like an upcoming Marvel movie character, a SWAT officer, utility belts, and something very odd in the center that might just be rock armor.

Tank's right, by the way - those dots _are_ part of the chargen UI. We think you'll _really_ like what we've got.
As far as the wrist issue, we're using a 'gunslinger stance' as our neutral posing in the chargen, mostly because of the fat slider testing. It gets less useful when the chub swallows both arms. It's temporary, but it's a chosen design statement, not a technical problem.

Well I’ll admit it’s a lil

Well I’ll admit it’s a lil bit lite but I still like this update as it is hinting at a lot of polishing going on right now and a character creator that appears very robust.

Seeing those characters makes me wonder if I spent so much time in COH creator because of how much I enjoyed it or simply because of how hard it was to achieve the look I was aiming for and eventually settled... Either way, it’s looking like there will still be a lot of time spent but likely with far less “settling” going on in the COT creator! (Fingers crossed)

I for one am comfortable knowing you are on track to a fall release for issue #0. After five + years that is so close I can taste it!

Overall I like the update very much even if it is very much a teaser!

With all we've seen, I KNOW wings will be awesome. I am more concerned about a pretty face...CO had ugly women. DCUO had passable gals with a very limited wardrobe....Black Falcon is described as having super model good looks, and at one time was the spokes-gal for Wayne Industries.

That's why I was really pushing for a face, head and hair update. costumes are nice, but the face sells the game.

Actually, I am more concerned about my Talos character. He has big giant floating fists that act is energy blasts. I'm hoping with the second kickstarter I can pay $1500 bucks and make my fists as props....but there is no guarantee that will ever happen.

I know what you're talking about re the AB release, but I can't find anywhere (I did do a search) that MWM refers to that as 'Issue 0' so it may just be speculation on our part that that is what they mean.
