Today's lore update gave you a good look at a different faction, the Aether Pirates. Short of the top ten villains list, where a member was mentioned, it's been a LONG time since we tipped you off these guys existed. What do you think? You'll be fighting these guys sooner or later.

One of my early memories from CoH was when my first hero first went into Steel Canyon and encountered a foe who could actually take to the air and chase after him. It was a surprise and resulted in glorious 3-dimensional combat. I am eagerly awaiting the opportunity to come to grips with the Aether Pirates in the skies of Titan City.
" I didn’t think I was, y’know, first-tier or anything."
Can rescue teammates, has perfect air dodging, and delivers one-hit KO's. Topaz confirmed for top tier.
But seriously, I enjoyed this story, and the ending was very interesting. I'll definitely read the next part assuming there will be more to follow. I'd also love to learn more about EdenTech; the gears in my head are already turning...
...
But now I have a question about lore in general. This one's for the game's writers. Have you all worked together to build a consistent view of the city, its districts, its denizens, and its history? These lore updates share a lot of common names and elements, so it seems that "yes" should be the obvious answer, but I'm still curious about your collective thought process. It sounds like a fun job putting it all together and working as a team to expand upon it!
Yes, there's definitely more to come, but you might have to wait a couple months for the next installment
Absolutely, yes! We've spent many, many, many...many....(you get the idea here) many hours making everything fit together. We've polished much of the history (there's still a few gaps, but I'm sure we'll fill those soon enough...there's plans afoot...). We've designed the districts. We've thought about how it all fits together (see KS updates #6 and #27 about the launch districts). We've written the groups and solo NPCs so that they fit together or counter to each other as appropriate. We've tried to make them as human as possible, while keeping the feel of a superhero comic book world. It is all coming together quite well, and we hope you will enjoy the world once it is ready for it's full debut!

Nice! I just read up on those Kickstarter updates, and I'm already in love with Titan City. The characteristics of each district are richer than I could have ever imagined. It'll be an absolute dream for those of us who like to immerse ourselves in our virtual surroundings.
And what a coincidence, I also stumbled upon an update about EdenTech. I think I need to set aside some time to read through all of the Kickstarter updates in sequence. There's tons of good stuff in there.
There really are. A lot of questions people ask have been addressed in an update somewhere, plus many you never asked. It's well worth the time.

I remember, on the old MWM Forums, that the Devs have been discussing the new City and it's districts, almost since the final days of CoH.
It's still very exciting to 'see' bits of the City in these updates.

I always chuckle to myself every time i see, or in this case read, about a helicopter getting wrecked. I've worked around them and, lets just say, they are very expensive. Those poor Titan City taxpayers.
Also about the pilot.
If you have any pilots on your staff, you probably will know already that they are really arrogant. I was surprised he didn't immediately jump out of the helo holding a coffee mug and talking about how no one else could have landed that well with no tail.
Great read. I always enjoy reading the lore updates!
Aether Pirates! Yay!
Good stuff, as always. It's starting to sound like poor Topaz is going to really wish he'd put a child safety lock on his little ray gun.
Also,
Lunch on the go? >.>
Otherwise... ew.

I REALLY enjoyed reading this update. Sounds like a great group of enemies. Pirate life is fun then add that to the fact that they're AIR pirates is just really cool. Also the tie in to the TCPD murder is a good twist.
I can't wait to see them!

Aether Pirates were one of the first groups we created. You can imagine the number of writeups and edits they've had from then until now.

Read enough Facebook and you have to make Sanity Checks. I guess FB is the Great Old One of the interent these days... - Beamrider
So it's a story about powersuit wearing SWAT members fighting steampunk pirates and an astropunk hero swooping in to save the day..... this is why supers is the best genre ever!!! Only in a supers story can you see something this awesome!!!

WoW that one hell of a writing... would have prefer to see something more like comic style... where the extra information is not needed xD but it's sounds promising and I am looking forward to the beta!
