Well, I'M creeped out. And simultaneously psyched to get a mission in this place already. You guys?

Fascinating. Some people consider the Barons to be good guys. Presumably some media / reporter(s) (who are totally not zombies) are painting them in a good light because they're giving grief to the Black Rose and the Five Dragons. Perhaps doing so without being involved in any obvious illicit activities of their own.
20:1 odds say that the Mountainview sanitarium is on a silent hill.
Ideally a hill with a cliff that drops into the ocean.
Cliffs and smugglers and caves, oh my.

Lots of branches for missions.
Standard "scanner"/"tip" missions: Investigate paranormal activity at Mountainview, Rescue X from Mountainview, Defeat all X in Mountainview
Others, which could be combined:
- It wasn't a virus at all, but rather...?
- Crowley didn't die; Or Crowley, as a person, never actually existed; Or Crowley was real person, but was never an MD
- Crowley administered the virus; it was given to him by ABC for XYZ purposes
- All of the former patients were WW2 vets (from the same unit) or former OSS agents
- Again, the story/legend/lore is BS...and something else is going on there now...
The legend and setting screams mutant, science or magic, but natural and tech could play pretty well there too.

What made the woods particularly creepy right there? Was that perhaps an old zombie burial ground?
Instead of Brownies, do the Titan Scouts have Sirens? Nah, probably that's their villain auxiliary.
I got a feeling the place was a cross between Arkham Asylum and Silent hill. Now it would be cool if we had an Arkham.

I'm starting to wonder at this, as well. Is it intentional that this was posted on the MWM Facebook page but is not posted on the Kickstarter? That strikes me as the reverse of the way it ought to be.

It does strike me as a little bit strange considering their normal habits, although because it strictly speaking isn't "kickstarter" related, I can understand why.
So keeping the lore/non game related stuff off the kickstarter to facebook/twitter whatever works, and the "Kickstarter related" stuff to all platforms works.
I will admit I was getting highly annoyed with having to read through every single kickstarter email just in case there was something "kickstarter" backer related in them (ie the wallpaper release was hidden at the end of a lore email)
So this change could be due to feedback along those lines.
True enough, and that would make sense, although such a change to their approach should still be advertised through a Kickstarter update (not to mention the usual social media channels). That update could, conveniently enough, contain a link to this latest lore update.

Agreed.
Or it could be that I was out of state for _one_ week. Sorry about the delay.
How would you feel about us slowing updates to biweekly, though?

I want to say that particular hospital is in Washington state somewhere?
I think that particular building has inspired a couple video game hospitals, for example the one in TF2's "Meet the Medic" is also based off of it.

"Goodman's Woods"--nice touch, there.
On a similarly spooky note, has anyone given thought to Titan City's "Potter's Field"? It's a big city. People die, and not all of them have family or friends to see to their rest, so sometimes it will fall to the city to bury them. I had seldom given it much thought in modern terms...until an unrelated bit of research led me to Hart Island, which is--among many other unsettling things--the long home of New York City's lost and unknown. The nameless dead, hundreds of thousands--many of them children--are buried in mass graves, walled away by the sea from the city where they died. Their only visitors are prisoners and guards from Rikers Island, coming to bury more.
Perhaps Titan City has a similar solution...and better reason then New York to keep the dead at a distance.
I'm up for it atleast, if it means you can have more precious time to work on the game. Honestly I think it would have actually been better if it was that way from the beginning. Companies that can afford salaries and therefore more time for weekly updates, but you do not. I'd rather you have more time to actually work on the game.

I am surprised that all the cards are held by just one person with no one around to back you up in this area. Which I find strange considering that in previous interviews that MWM was doubling people up on roles as "bus insurance".
This just showed an area that didn't have any....
I'm with notears on this. As much as I'm eager for updates, if it's a choice between you folks using the time you have to give us an update or work on the game, I'd go for the latter every time. Well, maybe not *every* time. If we heard nothing at all from you guys for the next 2 years, I think we'd get a bit worried about the state of the project. But you know what I mean.
Spurn all ye kindle.
I mean, sure, okay, if it helps you guys stay sane a little longer I'm good with a biweekly schedule.

I love the idea and can't believe it hasn't been used before, to my knowledge. Arkham has a creepy design, but no actual gruesome or supernatural problems (most of the time). While many big old asylums like that were sadly demolished, many in just the last couple decades, you could say that fears of releasing the virus prevented anyone from ever destroying the building. There are actually a great number of similar structures around the US.
I'm a huge fan of the Kirkbride style of asylums, myself, most notably the State Lunatic Hospital at Danvers in Massachusetts.

You guys are entirely too forgiving. I think the move to bi-weekly updates has more to do with them running out of things to update than the desperate need for more game development time. Why do you think the lore "updates" are increasing?
Currently trapped inside the Speed Force...
Lore updates are not increasing. Art and Tech have always done one each per month. Lore has always been the other major source of updates, and they find cranking these things out a lot easier than our other departments, so they've handled the other gaps as a rule, with the occasional intervention of irregulars like the In the Spotlight stuff.
Believe me, we've got plenty of material. But making it into updates truly does take time away from production. It's been sustainable up until now, mostly because Lore, as mentioned, could handle the gaps. But now even Lore is saying they're going to need more time soon when they start writing missions. So we're considering a shift to bi-weekly.

Interior Map Lead and UI Designer
If you do that, would it be possible to get a "coming next week" teaser in the offweeks? It would give the forum-ites something to discuss. Maybe even incorporate a good response or two into the update when possible.
Ignoring that idea totally, as much as I look towards the bi weekly updates, I think I'd adjust to once every other week. I don't think that is being "entirely too forgiving" for a game that's been over-the-top good about keeping us up to date on the game.
Although I do admit that I would miss the weekly updates and I've really gotten to looking forward to them, as I said, I could adjust if we still get good updates.
More information doesn't equate to better information though. The latter is what we need, not to necessarily be filled (spoiled?) on every aspect of the game a year before release.
More time towards updates is nice; more time towards the game itself is key.

Would I still like a weekly update, yes.
Would I mind a shift to bi-weekly, no.
As long as we are getting updates and having the devs chime in where appropriate on the forums I feel informed about the development of the game.

How fast can you draw a quality picture? How fast can you digitally sculpt? Probably not as fast as you can share what's already written.
The idea that there is "too much lore" i find asinine. The reason I haven't looked for a moment at Heroes and Villains is because there simply is no meat on the bone for me. I'm glad to hear about the world in City of Titans.. I'd dare say it's my favorite part.
If nothing else I DEFINITELY prefer it to art that is not necessarily representative of the final game. I love seeing Valiance Online but it's hard to remind myself that it is still pre-alpha and not judge it for how it looks now.
Crowd Control Enthusiast
I'm fine with biweekly updates if weeklies are slowing things down too much, though I particularly enjoy seeing some sort of news from the Art and Tech sides, still at the once-a-month frequency, even if it's rougher than before or a sort of "3 bullet points of progress and one teaser image". Story progress is obviously steaming ahead and I like seeing it too, but for those of us who were most attached to CoH's playstyle, there's no substitute for a peep through the Art & Tech windows into CoT. It's the grease for our squeaky (but patient) wheels...
