These days it seems like even people fairly high up in a company don't really know who owns it. I bet 90% of the employees there had never heard that name before.

And the reverse is also true. I doubt Viktor even knows what Daybreak does, even if he does turn out to own it.

While I generally don't go for the "we should copy what other countries do" solution (because it ignores a myriad of variables), in this case, I'd have to agree with one of the replies on the Daybreak story about PSC. The problem could have been prevented with a simple PSC register.

Still, there's a small chance the layoffs are unrelated. They seem to have a "shrink to grow" mentality in general at Daybreak, according to my five minutes of research on them.

The layoffs? That seems par for the course when companies lay off.

I know I never got a warning from being laid off from a job.

This whole Daybreak thing does seem pretty bad from the point of view that half the people involved didn't even seem to know which company owned what. The layoffs associated with it don't seem that surprising given how the whole thing was based on some kind of twisted house of cards to begin with.
