Contessa Nocturne HATED waiting.....
Night took to Salem quickly this October evening, something she had a hand in, to ensure that her dark meeting was not to be interrupted, not that her loyal Darkborne would allows that. The streets before her manor were cloaked in ominous layers of fog, and the baying of hellhounds kept any would-be solicitor away, she only had one man she intended tonight.
Earlier, Cordelia had sent a shadowy message to none other than Lord Nighmare himself, a villain she had come to respect and admire, hoping he would meet her and reap the spoils of a dark alliance in a world blinded by a beacon of 'security and freedom'. While the times has changed, she was no fool to believe that heroes would be heedless to her activities and those like her, and in working together, they share a better chance of their plots coming to fruition....
After all, she and Nightmare were merchants of destruction and death, seeking to make bloodier, fruitful profits.....and she hated waiting....

A lone car traveled up the road to the Contessa's abode. It was an older model limousine, black as night with its occupants hidden by the dark tinted windows. It pulls up to the gates of the manor and rings up Cordelia, the driver's voice a young one, mid 20s, a bit condescending. "Nightmare, party of four."

The door to the estate would suddenly swing open, but instead of the Contessa, a extremely large and powerful looking hellhound would suddenly appear before the car, just after the gates, which suddenly swung open without a sound.
Ushering the occupants to the door, the hellhound would disappear inside a shadow. The interior of the manor would contain the finest furniture possible, bearing a distinct early American style combined with modern ornaments. Standing before them, would be the Contessa herself, with a curly mane of raven black hair, complimented by a black trench coat, lace top, skintight leather pants, and heeled combat boots. She would lower her gaze to them, her face and skin unmarked and slightly paled, beautiful, appearing to be in her mid 20's...however, those with magical senses could discern that she radiates dark power beyond her appearance, a well of shadow...
"Greetings Lord Nightmare, I am Contessa Nocturne....welcome to my estate...."
She would suddenly be flanked on either side by hellhounds similar in appearance to the one that led them inside. She would suddenly clap her hands together, the doors slamming shut behind them with a bang....she would be smiling...
"And tell me...who are the accessories?"

Nightmare stands a few yards ahead of the group, clad in his dark blue armor that idly hums, the joints whirring a little as he bows to Nocturne, his voice artificially deepened with a haunting, light robotic echo added. "M'lady Nocturne, a pleasure," he says before he turns to introduce his companions, "These are my personal guard. I'd have brought just one but we've been having... difficulties as of late." The youngest of the guests, a woman who didn't look to be over 19, scoffs at this. "Hmph.. is that what you call it, M'lord? That red ma-" Nightmare cuts her off, "Chaotica, silence. That man is nothing but a nuisance and we are not going to be wasting the hostess's time with trivial matters."
Nightmare rolls his eyes behind the helmet and turns back to Cordelia, "Excuse her, the young always lack grace."

She would offer him a cordial smile, and nod...
"It is fine, we were all young once...and likewise Lord Nightmare, your exploits are reputed throughout the dark magical community...I would know...now please, take a seat, I would hate for my guests to stand the entire time..."
She would gesture to the living area before them, pristine leather couches, fine rugs, the best of luxury furniture....and the most notable feature, a large oil canvas detailing the Great Chicago Fire of 1908, practically lifelike, it's stunning detail only possible if she was there.....
She would then gently set herself down into a fur lined arm chair.....her emerald eyes highlighted in the light of a nearby fireplace, she would turn towards her guests, a all familiar hellhound nuzzling her leg like a house dog...
"Sorry about the hellhounds on the way in, they are a bit over protective......"
She would then cross her legs before engaging them further, the firelight casting the room into uneasy and quivering shadow...
"I was hoping to form a kind of alliance...pool our powers and resources....your thoughts?"

He follows her, instructing the three to ease themselves and stay in the main foyer and wait. Once he's in the living area he takes a seat on the couch closest to Cordelia, sitting in a relaxed position leaned back with arms outstretched around the back cushion.
"It's quite alright. You get the same treatment when you're worshiped as a god."
His armor whirs more as he moves his torso, small grunts coming from him.
"I apologize.. the ride here was very uncomfortable. Now, an alliance you say? Forgive me, but you seem to know about me yet I've never heard of you."
The helmet hid his true expression, making it unclear if he was bluffing or testing her. He simple leans forward with both hands intertwined and awaits a response.

She would simply smile back at him, a teasing and knowing grin.....
"Let's just say that I was born MANY years before you and your cohorts....erm perhaps not this one...." She would gesture to Baron Aleister, smiling again....
"I hail from Salem, Massachusetts, I am a witch....though others would argue otherwise....I have outlasted so many of my friends and enemies, I had almost begun to believe there was no one to reap the spoils of this doomed earth with....until I gained wind of your activities..."
It would be clear that while Contessa Nocturne isn't lying, she is cloaking her history with carefully chosen words....whatever her past is, she intends to keep it masked. She would smile at Nightmare directly, and lean forward as well..
"Unless you object to this of course...then you are free to leave and do as you please....but imagine the fruits of a partnership between us...the collective power we share would allow us to puppeteer these sheep around us...."
She would gesture to a large window overlooking her street, where past her gates, a man would be fleeing from the same hellhound that ushered them in, and it would be clear that he was already doomed. Just as he managed to reach the estate, he would be pounced on and mauled to death by the devil dog...afterwards, she would chuckle at the spectacle, turning back to Nightmare, lean forward herself, and whisper...
"All they need is few dark shepherds, no?"

Nightmare pondered for a moment before excusing himself, bringing the Baron with him. They return after a few minutes, Nightmare's tone slightly more upbeat.
"Madame Nocturne, we've decided to accept your... offer."
He extends his hand to her, the idle hum of his armor much clearer at such a close distance.
"Hopefully our impression of you and your organization does not change."

Contessa would take his hand, and despite the fact of Nightmare's armor, her shake would be firm and final...
"I am glad to hear it, and I apologize if I unnerved you and your allies...however if we were to become partners...we may have to introduce you publically as well, as you may frequent the Estate...."
"I was possibly considering your alter ego perhaps sponsoring ERIS, or as an advacote...but I am sure you can think of something..."
She would smile at him, and return to her chair....
"However, forgive me for asking, but what are the goals of the Cult of Nightmare in the near future, so my Darkborne do not indirectly interfere with your possible plots, and vice versa...?"

A hush falls and Nightmare glares at Contessa, his grip tightening around the couch's armrest for a second before he relaxes it and returns to a more calm demeanor.
"I would prefer you stay out of my.. ehem.. other life, Miss Cordelia. I take considerable precautions to ensure the two are not connected. That being said, my Children have no goals currently and are building a nest egg to prepare for a proper opportunity to present itself. I, on the other hand. am keeping tabs on the local heroics.. best to know thy enemy, yes?"

She would nod, and smile apologetically...
"I overstepped my boundaries there, I apologize for that, and I agree, we must keep watch over 'heroes'...we can't have them interfere in any form..."
She would then turn to his allies, and muse...
"In fact, I am overseeing the transfer of two dark magical artifact tomorrow night into Salem....maybe we could work together...ever of the Sword Clarent, and the daggers, Carnwennon, of King Arthur?"

"The sword that slew the son of Uther and the dagger that killed the witch Orddu, yes.. I'm familiar with the legends. Though petty thievery doesn't seem your style, Nocturne."
He gives a light grin and a low mmmm, the thought coming instantaneously.
"Let me guess.. we distract them with a lesser crime while you take the blades?"

She would smile, pleased and impressed by Nightmare's knowledge....
"Of course, our forces keep the heroes and TCPD occupied, while we make off with the weapons....and they are only part of a larger plan, thievery isn't my style, but the means to an end.."
"And it would be an honor to fight alongside you, given the opputunity of course..."

"Oh don't worry about that, I've been meaning to show these pathetic worms what I can really do.."
He gives an almost cliche cackle to himself, leaning forward enough to rest his chin on both thumbs.
"You probably have no idea how hard it is to restrain oneself from using magic in battle... such a boring way to fight. But of course, our little 'group' requires a name, no?"

She would laugh as well, smiling....
"Likewise, I have waited for a time to fully practice my abilities once again, and skirmishes with the police is no contest..."
She would chuckle, and the darkness around her would noticeably deepen...
"I was thinking something dark and regal, like ourselves....the Ministry of Shadows perhaps?"

"Mmm.. I do like the sound of it. Though I hope we can find more like-minded individuals. Total conquest is, of course, much easier when your numbers are greater."

"I agree, and while our forces are powerful, we need power AND numbers to mitigate the amount of heroes we intend to combat.....now just how do we go about recruiting...a missive like the one I sent you....or something more..."
She would pause, and smile....
"Direct?"

"Direct for the weaker ones.. though if someone peaks our interest, a private meeting such as this would be more favorable."
He stands and stretches his arms out, the joints of the armor audibly moving as he turns to exit, cape flowing behind him. The other three stand as well and make their way back to the car, all piling into the back seat.
"Well, my dear, I must depart. Call me when you're prepared and I shall arrive. Hopefully on time, next time."
He gives a light smirk and exits as well, petting the hellhound as it munches on the remains of its victim on his way out.
