Become a Titan
Sorry I haven’t posted yet. Got hit with writers block.
Kartanian did the Ayrians changed their communication security codes. If not Hotwire be able to access Unit Fours mech.
Personal rules of good roleplay
1.) Nothing goes as planned.
2.) If it goes as planned it's not good RP
No, they have not changed their codes. There is no reason Hotwire can't do the same thing to Purity Four that she did to the flight leader's mech. :)
A Wing and a Prayer, A Strong, Strong Wind, All Forests are One - Venture City metahuman novels in the spirit of City of Heroes and other comic book superhero fiction. (http://bit.ly/sdpbooks)
Took Hotwire and Code Monkey out of the fight. She did what she wanted and that was to get the Aryans to attack. Knowing as long as they pkay the protesters bit the heroes will back down.
There no profit in showing peaceful protests!
Misty Spirit powers are poltergeist like. What an I’m saying she is a poltergeist!
Attacks are telekinesis like abilities.
Defense is energy absorbing including heat and electric charge.
Extra powers is invisibility and intangibly
Sorry for the delay folks. I was still thinking Tink had the next up action.
Nope, Tink took a Ready action to zap the Wizard as soon as he's solid again. This may leave her a bit open to the other bad guys...

If you can't see an image I've posted, please let me know!
One character I think would have appeared was FLUX, however, I got Rotten, Misty, and D-Day going now. On top of that Rotten going to be using his Necromancer powers given D-Day doing the tanking. So that's 6 more undead minions plus the possibility of him drawing up a spirit from a fallen zombie.
The same reason I pulled Hotwire and Code Monkey out is the same reason Flux is staying away
Her father was such an anti-mutant type she would see the ARYANS as a personal insult. Then again being that it would be easily personal Flux would lose her cool and won't care about collateral damage.
So now we have another portal, and the first person stepping through looks at first glance like a WWII paratrooper, with M2 carbine in hand, and all of his gear would be setting off magic detectors (if, for example, the Wizard is still close enough to sense it). The runes on the carbine might mislead the Aryans into thinking he's an ally, but hopefully he'll get a chance to prove otherwise before they get close enough to see the runes. ^_^
I'm visualizing Ron and Old Soldier coming in at the opposite corner of the fight zone from where the Grand Wizard fled, but there's a possibility someone with magic sensitivity will notice him.
The reinforcing heroes are generic bystander types, unless someone lobs in something specific. They offer the potential to relieve the pressure on D-Day, but the ARYAN forces are pretty determined to kill him, if at all possible, and will take extra risks to do so.
Misty: Reading back, I don't see that she is draining Purity Two's mech power, yet. She's been teasing the pilot, I think. If not, let me know so I can have the pilot react. :)
Hotwire: I am assuming that her gambling routines are continuing to do their own thing as programmed. If you can identify a big payout bet or two, that will help me throw the Hostile Secretary's money and effort into the right place to score. ;)
Misty's energy drain is a constant effect only time it's off is when she's invisible so don't need the energy to manifest a form. That's why she creates cold spots and lights flicker around her she's constantly draining the heat and electrical charges. It's her defense power set! Like I stated before when I was explaining her powers. Going intangible a side power from her invisibility but not her defense powers.
One of the highest bets is that D-Day goes down. He's near or is Incarnate level Brute type but Energy weapons the Aryans are using is a weak point. Unlike Hotwire who shrugs off that type of attacks, they can hurt him. So the highest odds are the Aryans do take him down I say 20 to 1.
Thoughts I really bother with real odds RP wise never know what tricks are coming. So go ahead and make up your own thoughts on the odds she has up.
HEAT= High Explosive Anti-Tank. See also, Monroe Effect. The charge has been magicked up to modern LAW standards, and hopefully there will be a weak spot in the armor at the joint. Also hopefully, it will be away from the pilot's body parts...
You folks are wonderful, because you can often out-geek me, the army vet, on details. :D
And, for many other creative reasons, too! Thank you for participating!
USMC, plus many more years with tabletop and computer war games. Command Decision (GDW) helped a lot with the Old Soldier.
I feel underclass now! I’m just a normal gamer, comic geek, and Brony.
The intent of Hank "the Minstrel" Talliaferro's singing is that those who can hear it who either aren't intolerant or try not to be will receive a morale boost and a small heal-over-time, while those who don't even try to be tolerant will have doubts and hesitation. Hank is fairly sure the mecha pilots will be in the latter category, but all they need to do to end the effect is turn off their external microphones.
Tinker Belle can hear the music through the open hatch. She's had an idea, that involves getting the mecha's transmitter operational and using it to jam the Aryans' comms...
You rascal, you.
I’m feeling sick kind of hard to focus. I post tomorrow morning I swear.
I know the feeling. Hope you feel better soon! :)
Yes, that would be Bazookatm bubble gum, if it was really bubble gum. If he got the shot off early enough, it should make some connections not connect properly, and require cleaning.
Unfortunately, I'm sure the individual mecha are too strong for the rocket's designed purpose of immobilizing infantry.
Jake is just going for the damage. Millie is going for damage with a targeting debuff and an armor debuff. Hank is still supplying some healing, but with a disassembly debuff.
At this point we have Purity Four, being thrown about/disabled, and one more assault mech (I think) still operating independently, unless folks need more random ARYAN targets. The other mechs combined into the big Voltron wanna-be, so the giant mech is low on support.
Processing this and will post a little later this evening.
I really have no idea why I keep saying Unity four.
I'm trying to make sure D-Day behaved differently then Rotten Luck when he's in Brute mode.
Both are technically the same style of fighter both are brutes, both take the point and play the meat shield part. The differences are D-Day military trained and thinks along the lines of a commander on a battle field. Rotten is a pit fighter. Hope I'm getting the two RP wise different enough!
You're doing well at that, actually. It's neat to see the different styles.
Being slammed with work this week as I try to push out (1) comedy video scripts, (2) several training proposals, (3) some of four e-learning courses, and (4) continuing daily progress on my next novel because NaNo was fine, but my book is longer than that. I think I can post again tomorrow morning (Friday).
Just in case 3M is off base entirely, or there are readers unfamiliar with Larry Nivens' stories of when the Magic Goes Away, the Warlock's Wheel was the magical equivalent of a pocket nuke. Take a metal disk (usually copper) and add two spells to it: one to make it indestructible, and one to make it spin, faster and faster. Add a spell if needed to feed more mana into the latter spell. Eventually there is not enough mana to support the first spell, which fails catastrophically.
BTW, the force field Tink is projecting works best on electrically conductive fluids. So, pretty good against the molten copper, not so good against the fragments (but they'd be lower energy) or gaseous copper, but if it is hot enough to form a plasma, much of the blast will be diverted up and through the BFG. Against most people, they can push right through.
So, not a Warlock's Wheel, then. ^_^
How high does the Toothpaste of Doom reach, and how fast does it go? Tink was about 40 meters (133 feet) above the top of the mech, and can accelerate at about two G (or just one G if she's going straight up...)
And did any of it get portaled out over the ocean by Rotten Luck's (or anyone else's) portals?
Also, everybody's shields are a little bit magic, courtesy of the Minstrel's rendition of Kipling's Hymn to Breaking Strain
Misty fine she will wake back up in her coffin back at the graveyard. I figure the blast didn't have any effect on magical beings like Rotten and Old Soldier.
Trying to think if D-Day would start aging faster now that his power isn't keeping him young.
The Mystical, Minty Toothpaste of Meta-Cleansing expands at movie-style explosion speed, so about 60 mph. Tink will be in the AOE, unless she can react and move fast enough, very much like Gayle, who didn't accelerate fast enough.
Portals won't help, except that wherever the portal leads will leak the stuff to anyone in the immediate vicinity.
Minstrel's protection... not much help, but it could certainly give the edge to let someone with quick reflexes and a speedy travel ability get out of the area.
I forgot to include an example, but Shazam would become just Billy Batson, or whatever his name was. Magical origin doesn't protect the meta. Now, Ron's specific role and patron... yes. He would be unaffected. D-Day? I'm not so sure. Go with whatever you think would be more fun.
The likely long-term playout of all this is that it would be a temporary condition that those affected *could* recover from; especially because the power didn't go all the way up to full, 100% activation level.
Hmm. If magic is affected then it makes sense Hel would flip the switch on Rotten and activate the Avatar state. Hel’s personally channeling power into Rotten.
Power in this state is switched to Helfire based attacks and defense. Hel fire acts like a curosive acid.
Negative Ron isn’t in control it’s Hel in the pilot seat.
Kind of an interesting twist, depowered Ron exposes the Hel’s orb power bound to Ron’s bones.
As for D-Day he just depowered. More I think about it rapid aging don’t make sense.
So it seems to be a PR round. D-Day going to bring up folks like the THING and Rogue. Now there a cure for the extream conditions.
Oh, and for Hotwire she doesn't consider a Defeat the same as a KILL. Sorry, Hostal Secretary that is in the fine print! In truth, she might even include a bonus for a confirmed kill reward.

Re: Hotwire's betting, that was actually my point. Kisya put down a bunch of money that D-Day would not be killed. That's why she showed up to help win her bet. *grin*
Ooh, shiny! Code Monkey got the ARYAN subscriber list!
Nice job on D-Day's press address, RL. :)
The intensity/totality and duration of the "normalizer" device can be individually determined for any given character, at the player's discretion. There was quite a variety of shielding and restorative effects going on at the time. The Minstrel's magic can certainly have helped mitigate the damage.
We can move into "EPILOGUE" state for this particular episode after Christmas. Aftermath and follow-ups would be really interesting, as you desire to post them. I will also have a new episode up not long after this. The base thing felt like much more of "an interesting idea at the time" than a good, multi-participant forum RP topic. I'll have something more active and engaging to start off the next episode.
Cheers, thanks for participating, thanks for patience with my occasional gaps in posting, and happy holidays, too!
For reference, as Tinker Belle is cutting into the downed mech:
(1) The crash killed the pilot.
(2) The ARYAN tech is pretty "normal" high technology sort of stuff for this environment. Nothing super weird, with the exception of the Meta-Cleansing Device.
(3) The Meta-Cleansing Device itself was a one-shot item, and is not recoverable in any useful form. However... certain characters with time control powers (I'm thinking Sheena/Shanikali, at this point) could "rewind" and get good looks at the thing what would allow magi-tech allies to get REALLY good looks at the thing, if desired. :)
(4) All surviving ARYAN pilots (which is all but that one noted) are captured and turned over to the TCPD.
(5) They lawyer up immediately--as planned prior to the operation--and provide no new, juicy details.
(6) Skillful TCPD investigation with hero assistance (only to the extent allowed by law) can dig up additional dirt, not including the core identities or locations of bases. This investigation DOES result in the launch facilities of the mecha flights, which will be abandoned by the time the authorities arrive (also as planned).
Unfortunately, the Duchess' sixsight only works forward and only with limitations. Always in motion, the future is. ^_^ OTOH, Rotten Luck knows of a certain librarian who can use mirror magic to scry into the past, as long as the view wasn't magically blocked at either time.
The Rune Priest might be able to help. Though he won't be able to see it himself there are a few Runes that could boost such sight.
That fortune is a true one! I roll 24d9 to get a set of numbers and assign the runes to each number. I don't do the reverse or blank runes.
Since I haven't given a recent update: My next novel, "Whispers of the Dragon," was finished in draft form by the end of December. This one's a fantasy setting with a rather unwitting paladin learning how to fight the Shadow. Alpha readers have finished and given me feedback for developmental editing. Next draft by end of March, publication scheduled for May.
Next project: Another Venture City superhero story with Sheena and Gayle, "Power Struggles."
RL: Can you remind me who the ARYAN leader's daughter is again, please? You mentioned that a while ago, and I'm thinking Hotwire, but I want to be sure I'm not confusing the character.
Sheena is outside of time and will do her "River of Time" viewing. I'll post that here and then have her return. She will be back in about ten seconds of "real time," so we won't advance time much at the park, but commentary by Minstrel, D-Day, Ron, etc. makes sense (if desired).
Her code name is FLUX she can manipulate matter on the molecular level but only at close range and only by touch. She can alter AIR around her in a general bubble aura. I have RPed her off and on in a few threads.
This is the first appearance of Flux. https://cityoftitans.com/forum/young-wanderers-open-rp?page=2
At the time of that post, she was 17. Name: Grace Harper later she took up another name Joyce Tanner I think. By now she bound to have a few other aliases. So now she's 19 and a bit more skilled and effective.
Okay seems I had forgotten a few details of her backstory. She ran away from home because her father was using her as a test subject. She was put in Steel Mercy a short time before it burnt down. So perhaps been on the run for a year.
I think I might recon that she wasn’t in Steel Mercy because of a plea bargain but because her Father had her locked up after the running away and theft. That makes sense more being 17 she would have ended up in juvenile detention center not jail. She could have been lying to the group for sympathy.
*wince* Dang, I never finished that! I'm sorry. By this weekend. :/
Gee, it's not like you weren't busy writing a book... oh wait...
No worries, brother.
Putting yourself in another persons shoes emotionally is something that everyone has to experience eventually. It's part of learning to be a human being. Roleplayers do it for fun.
Yes, is posted!
I started with a "blank sheet of paper" about the Mystic Toothpaste Device for Sheena's jaunt to the River of Time and it got filled with a flash-forward to dealing with her yet-to-come sidekick. Weird. But it helped me get more detail on that character. (NaNoWriMo is coming up and Power Struggles is the next novel. :) )
The schematics obtained from the Jewels Verne drop box will explain how this was done. The Meta-Cleansing Device is a magical, one-shot, difficult, expensive, and finicky sort of thing. With the schematics, it is certainly possible to make more, and a really good arcane theoretician/inventor/scientist could make it less clunky and steampunky, but it will never be a reliable mass market way to remove metahuman powers. For plot device purposes, it offers a permanent or temporary powers-removal device. :)
And so an evil android who experimenting on magic users, normals, supers would have no reason to get his hands on such a device... oh wait that what ALX would go for.
Oh and one more thing... I'm Back! Just wasn't in the mood to post often but letting my evil android play was just too tempting.
Should be interesting, yes. What information about ALX might show up in the FBSA database?
EDIT: Or in the scuttlebutt, rumors, and secret files of the criminal underworld and the reputable, upstanding hero group supercomputers? *grin*
Northbrook/Falcon, and through him Tinker Belle and the Duchess, know he is a gadgeteer with many criminal contacts. But TB and the Duchess were worried about their latest (accidental, unlike "the twins", who were planned) daughter's sanity if they didn't get her into a real body fairly quickly. So they subcontracted the skeleton to him. He also "helped" them with getting some cyborgs unenslaved. So they are willing to cut him some slack, but that would change if they learned what he does in the back rooms...
The ALX units were recalled and discontinued due to a high number of the A.I.'s becoming unstable. At first, they have been considered the Rolls Royce of Androids the recall and news about the malfunctions drove the manufacturers out of business.
ALX-32 is one of the few that passed the tests and phycological exam to be considered legally self-aware and sane. The truth was he faked the exam and is a sociopath. Using his Robotic parts store as a front, he deals in illegal cybernetics. The FBSA would not be showing the illegal intel thought it might be suspected.
On the record, he appears on the up and up. Off the record, if you need cybernetics or robotic gear that's untraceable he is one place to go.
