With all the different factions that CoT will have, I wonder if its possible to incorporate some mythological creatures into the gameplay as possible epic monsters.
I always got a kick out of the giant octopus in Independence Port, but why stop there. I don't think everything that the devs put in the game has to be completely original. Of course the lore surrounding the monster would change to fit the world of the game, but when I take a sewers trial to defeat the hydra, I didn't think I would be fighting off baddies that are defending the giant booger at the bottom of the drain.
I would love to see things like the Hydra, Chimera, Phoenix, Cyclops, Medusa, Manticore, Angels, Demons, ect... in the mix. Of course I am not trying to turn this into a psudo-medieval dungeon crawl. Pick and choose the monsters as you wish, but it could be fun to have to deal with the Kraken on special occasion.

It is a worthwhile question. MWM has said that they want to avoid Greek gods, but that does not necessarily preclude the remainder of the mythology. I agree that if a creature pops up that is called a hydra or chimera, it should have some resemblance to said mythological being rather than being a generic blob.

Why does a Hydra have to be a mythological creature? Why can't it be a native creature from a different planet? There are loopholes.

The hydra is a native creature to this planet, but it doesn't make a good adversary. ^_^

*AHEM* Anyway, mythical creatures on CoT would be pretty cool, and I love the idea of injecting our own lore into them. I'd like a more even split between sci fi and fantasy. Sure mythical creatures are interesting and I know your not saying that everything needs to be a fantasy creature but those reinterpretations of these creatures through non magical means are just as interesting to me and a lot of people out there. Sure don't get me wrong I think it would be interesting to fight a dragon who leads an army of wizards and knights and all that but I would also like to fight a giant cyborg lizard alien from planet Dragnarr 16 who leads an army of psionics and robots who are shaped like knights who's invading us from a futuristic planet with a culture much like our own medieval period.

I don't mind a variety of creatures -- one of the nice things about the superhero/comic milieu is that it can encompass a wide range -- but I don't want CoT to "me too" all the standard fantasy tropes that are already done to death out there.
