Just a quick post:
I was listening to "Power Armor" by Hellwreckage productions and i had an idea that would bring some nice flavor to the game when it's released.
How about, when you are making a character and you choose a powerset, background music starts playing according to which powerset you choose.
So if you choose Power Armor, a techno-ey song would play. A fire powerset could have energetic music in the background, or ice with slow music. Gun powersets could have maybe some heavy guitar in the background. The list goes on!
Of course this comes with a few issues, such as switching rapidly between powersets could be a little bit noise pollution.
Perhaps the music changes per archetype instead?
Not a bad idea but to prevent the noise pollution you mentioned how about this instead:
You get to the point where your costume is done and you're thinking of a name and background. THAT'S when you cue the music because many players will be typing anyway. The music played will be based on Primary Powerset or something.
I remember when Star Wars was cool...a long, long time ago...
That could work! i always spend like 3 times as long on a name than a costume anyway XD
If it turns out the Costume Creator gives us a Dropdown to Choose a Starting point for our Character theme, I dont know... maybe a NINJA, RACER, etc...
...the music changes to match the selected Character Theme... and stays on it... unless you manualy change it?
My Little Pony theme song for Empathy Defenders!

I always think of Spy Hunter (the arcade game where you drive a slick car (top down view) and fight off hordes of bad guys, also driving cars and helicopters.) Love the song too.
Ah ... Spy Hunter. The mere notion of being able to drive a street car with an 800 hp engine in it ... in 1983!

Ooh I love the idea.. as an orchestra I bet the sound team could turn up the slider for different instruments. If it was a psionic theme the player the strings are emphasized. Super Strength, turn up the drums, Energy caster turn up the winds (or techno).. All using one track but using the instruments to differentiate
Full on Peter and the Wolf LOL. Pretty simple equalizer

Brilliant!
That could avoid the noise pollution issue by allowing the player to hear the different instruments shift. FOr example, you pick up dual pistols and everything quiets and the guitar slowly gets higher. YOu change to rock powers and you hear the volume of the guitar go lower and the drums volume raise. Switching to gadgets would make a techno-ey overlay happen.
